Im thinking of trading my JL Audio for these ... what do you think?

So I still havent made a change and I have not made a box for my ten. Abig part of me feels that a 10 just wont get me the lows that I want so I am convinced that I will be getting one of teh following:

http://www.amazon.com/X-15-D2-Sundown-X--Subwoofer/dp/B00EIQZI3Q/ref=sr_1_102?ie=UTF8&qid=1432727884&sr=8-102&keywords=15%27%27+subwoofer

Amazon.com : ORION HCCA152 15" 4000 Watt Dual 2 Ohm Voice Coil Subwoofer HCCA-152 : Vehicle Subwoofers : MP3 Players & Accessories

Amazon.com: DS18 EXL-B15.2D Extremely Loud 15-Inch 3000 Watts Competition Subwoofer with Power Dual Voice Coil 2-Ohms: Car Electronics

Now I also have someone trading me 2 of these :http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-10cvx15-4-Round-15-Inch-Subwoofer/dp/B003LA9OL2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432728483&sr=8-1&keywords=15%27%27+subwoofer+kicker+10cvx154

plus 100.00 for my JL audio. Im not to crazy about a 2010 madel kicker vs my JL. I do like the fact that it is 1000 rms and a fifteen though. So, fellas , go easy on me, but I am just looking for more depth, lower , richer bass with more loudness. My JL is tucked away behind my seat in a large van and itr sounds good but is just not enough. I have a 1000 watt amp so am limited to one 15'' or can get 2 but would have to wait a while for an amp.

If you're willing to spend $400 for a subwoofer, there are plenty of options out there outside of the "mainstream" brands that will be way better than your current JL. Read up and research some of the brands often talked about on this forum. Sundown,Fi,Digital Design, etc... Find one that fits your needs. Some sub's are SPL oreinted (loud, not so musical) some are SQ (sound good and hit most frequencies well) and SQL which would be a mix of both. You just have to research and make a decision based on your needs and budget, available power, available space, etc...

I am researching but its hard to decide since I can not hear them I can only see them. So I come to you guys.... and I think I am looking for SQL which is loud and quality sound. MY JL is pure quality but needs to be a bit louder and deeper.

Put that 10 in 1.5 cubes ported first. Tune to 32. You will get what you want

Understandable. I just try to get people to research and make a somewhat educated decision instead of being spoon-fed what to buy. I've been out of car audio for a while..but brands like Sundown, Fi, Sound Solutions Audio, Ascendant Audio should all have something that fits your needs. That's just a few I remember off the top of my head that have always made quality woofers.

How does this look for a ported box?

Makes me wonder how many cubic feet this JL box is . I sent an email to JL for specs...

Here are the actual specs to the JL box and it seems to go down to 22hz which is pretty low.

Product Highlights:

ported enclosure with one 10" W6v3 subwoofer

5/8" medium density fiberboard construction covered with gray carpet

2-ohm total impedance

power handling: 200-600 watts RMS (1,200 watts peak power)

frequency response: 22-200 Hz

sensitivity: 82.7 dB

12-1/2"W x 14"H x 21-3/4"D

warranty: 2 years

So I called JL and they told me that they could not give me the cubic feet and that they do not recommend a 1.5 box. They told me that because I have a larger car now ( my van) I have more air space to fill so they would recommend more power / a second woofer. This would increase the db and fill the lack that I am missing. Kind of makes sense.

No they just want to sell you more sh*t lmaoo.

Take a walk on the wild side and get a 15 or an 18.

I put a list together of woofers that I am interested in - I'm assuming that more watts and being a 15 in the right box should give me what I need - take a look at one of my comments- also, I have a guy offering 450$ for my w6 and I paid 520 so it's not much of a loss

Not a bad deal. Just be warned, you will give up some of the SQ, since the W6 is pretty up there in the SQ ladder. You wont lose out too much if your sub is in a proper box but the jump should be worth it. SQL woofers that should be on the list are DSS ethos, Ascendant audio, SSA Xcons, Tantric sounds
So according to what you say, a box doesn't amplify the sound, it just makes frequencies reach the ear with less cancellation. Lol. A cabin/trunk is essentially a box. Boxes cause gain. Cabins cause gain. Trunks cause gain. There is no debating that, the only differences are the shape and size of the cabin/trunk which results in different acoustical tuning per vehicle, just like a tuned box, a cabin/trunk has a tuning frequency as well. Cabin gain/trunk gain are most certainly NOT misnomers. It's reality and it's what makes every car different.
I learned this from @keep_hope_alive ;You can argue with him if you really want to look bad...

The flaw in your reasoning is so blatantly obvious i feel bad for you lol.
