Im thinking of trading my JL Audio for these ... what do you think?

Do one quality 15, rather than two crappy ones.

1. There will be less space taken up by a box

2. There will be less impedance rise, because there are less coils, so you will get more power out of your amp

3. One 15 with lots of excursion will displace just as much air as two 15's with lower excursion capabilities

4. There will be less weight

5. You can be proud of your brand, rather than getting some crappy Rockfords.

I think JL makes better subs than Rockford in general, and Rockford makes better amps. However, both are overpriced, imo. Would not buy anything from either brand.

that's correct-O mundo

How low do you plan on tuning to? According to website this woofer can do 22 hz but what concerns me is will it still have a punch?

There's a compromise for everything but there is such thing as having lows and still having that punch you speak of. Yes that sub can go down to 22 hz but doesn't mean you should tune that low either. If you want more punch than lows then tune around mid to high 30's. If you want more lows, tune to low 30's. All depends on how important lows is to you when you listen to music. I think 32-33hz would be a good median between lows and punchy bass. There's a million ways to build a box based on your musical needs.

Ive heard newer fosgates. They get loud, quite loud, but zero SQ
I beg to differ. Feed them good clean power and they sound amazing and get loud on top of it. I did 144.7db with a single 12" T1 and it was still one of the tightest, most even subs I've heard. Can't speak for the punch series or the newest power series but the power series 2011-2014 T0 and T1 are great SQL woofers.

To be honest regarding OP's question, I wasn't all that impressed with the P3 15's or any punch series 15's. I never heard them in any custom boxes but prefab sealed and ported sounded like crap, no lows, all highs, way too punchy. The P3 15 might be a good performer in a custom box but I hope you have a lot of room for two of them and if you're not doing a custom box I definitely don't recommend them.

With a custom box trust me that 1 10w6v3 sounds amazing. I went from a JL specs prefab to a custom spare tire enclosure I built and the difference is night and day. Much lower, much louder and much cleaner. I was truly shocked at the difference. My box ended up being about 1.3 net cubes ported tuned to about 36hz.

In the port? Sure as hell wasn't anywhere else.
