Just to post an update, I received an email from the bastages on Monday. They said someone packaged the wrong HU and sent it to me (no shit). They said give them a day and they'd decide what they're going to do. I haven't heard from them since. I've sent them an email every day since Monday and they haven't responded to any of them. The one I sent them this monrning said they could either send me a refund on their own, or the next time they hear from me I will have the representation of a lawyer and the issue would be settled in court. I'm interested to find out what their reply will be to that.
On the repair front, I logged into United Radio Serivce's web site yesterday to check the repair status of my HU. Wow, we're talking about the two opposite ends of the customer service spectrum here between the bastages and URS. URS just received my HU Wednesday, and they already had finished its diagnosis yesterday and posted the status on their site. Now these people know how to run a business! They had to order parts. They said the preamp output circuit, and a faceplate function circuit both needed to be replaced and their repair estimate was $85-$97. Unfortunately, they said the Imprint device is not a field repair item so they couldn't check it out. They said it would have to be sent directly to Alpine. The repairs on my HU should be completed a day or two after they get the parts.
