They call themselves True Value Electronics, but this is the name they use in their mailing address:With how many crazy ****s on this forum from texas? Your having issues..?
Man post up that address and let the hazing begin....
I purchased a new 9887 from this place back in Dec. They wouldn't allow me to pay for it using a credit/debit card because I was having it shipped to a different address than my billing address, so I had to send them a money order. This wouldn't have been a big deal, but they wouldn't send the unit to me until the money order cleared (hell, if they were going to do that, I could've just sent them a personal check). Then shortly after I installed the HU, the preamp outputs went completely dead. I emailed them about it and they told me to send it back and they would replace it with a new one. Then the fun really gets started. I emailed them several times after I found out UPS tracking info said the item was delivered to them (this place lists no phone number so I couldn't call them). A week later they finally respond to my emails, but all they said was their returns dept. had received the item and they'd get back with me when they heard from returns. Another week goes by and I hear nothing. By this time I'm starting to get pretty hot under the collar. They've got my money, my HU, and they're not responding to my emails again. Finally I'm able to stumble upon another place on the internet that just happens to have this place's phone number and I call them. They answer the phone with "hello", no business name, or person's name, very unbusiness-like. Then I can barely understand what the guy is saying to me because he has such a heavy middle-eastern accent. I ask the guy what's going on with my head unit, why is it taking so long for them to send out the new one, and why aren't they responding to my emails. He said they were out of stock and mine would get sent right out as soon as they got some more in. Like a fool I bought his excuse and I'll tell you why it was nothing but an excuse. Thursday the unit finally shows up in a tattered looking box, and it wasn't packaged like a new one. It looked like it had at least been taken out of the box, if not installed. However, this one had a different serial number than the one I returned so assumed it was a new one. I was wrong. I installed it this morning and there's something wrong with the volume control knob. None of its functions work. So obviously they just threw another HU in the box and sent it to me. It's not a new unit. How about you explain the situation satisfactory before you start posting contact info. I still dont get your gripe with this distributor.
Reporting them to BBB doesn't do anything if they are not members. Are they members? If they aren't doing any large operations then they are definitely not members. But that sucks... that's why I don't do any business with online companies and only buy locally at authorized dealers. I know too many people that have gotten screwed over by online companies. But for every 1 bad experience with online companies people have had 25 good ones. Also when our customers like to get their stuff for cheaper on the internet when it's not authorized we don't get to make the money on the deal and sometimes have to deal with the headache of their supposed "new" stuff is messed up because it's really refurbished.
None of that proves they are responsible for you receiving two bad h/u's ina row. Why not start a thread complaining about Alpine product defects?I purchased a new 9887 from this place back in Dec. Unethical places like this need to be run out of business. I'm not sending this unit back to them for a refund because I believe they'll keep the HU and I'll never see my money. I will keep the unit and pay to have it repaired before I send it back to them. They are nothing but a bunch of shiesters and if I knew of any way I could turn them in to any agency I thought might be able to put the screws to them, I would. They deserve as much bad advertising as they can get.
Okay, take the two head units out of the picture all together and this place should be run out of business just based on their piss poor customer service. Now, about the HU's. I do believe the first one I got had some kind of factory defect (Alpine's fault). The second one however was clearly not new (as they said it would be) and I believe they knowingly sent me a bad one. There's just no excuse for that and anyone who would stick up for a place that treats their customers that way is just as bad as they are.None of that proves they are responsible for you receiving two bad h/u's ina row. If the sticking up for them comment is directed towards me, Im simply making sure you are *****ing about the right company.Okay, take the two head units out of the picture all together and this place should be run out of business just based on their piss poor customer service. Uhhh... who the fvck are you?? What did I say that is wrong bro?this guy here ^^^^^^ went to the worse car audio school in the states. i probably wouldn't listen to anything he has to say... really
And if you could prove it was used, you would have been upset before you installed it and it didn't work. But instead, you installed it, it didn't work, THEN you decided it was used.Alpine didn't send me a used, defective HU.
I didn't know if it was used or not. What I do know is it wasn't packaged the same as the first one I got (which was clearly new). The second one I received looked like it had at least been unboxed and unpackaged. I assumed it was used because what are the chances Alpine sent out a brand new HU with a stuck, unfunctioning volume control? Also, what are the chances I get two bad HU's in a row that were both bad right from Alpine? Not saying it's not possible, just highly unlikely. And I didn't know it wasn't working until I installed it and applied power to it.And if you could prove it was used, you would have been upset before you installed it and it didn't work. What are you suggesting exactly, that this company only owns defective products? I highly doubt they sent you a h/u KNOWING it didn't finction. Let alone twice.
Next time, dont order from a company that you cannot find a phone number from.
Now you are starting to get on my nerves, not a good idea.I didn't know if it was used or not. What I do know is it wasn't packaged the same as the first one I got (which was clearly new). Are you by any chance one of these crooked online retailers? I don't know why else you would keep siding up with the bad guys on this issue. I'm the one getting screwed here and I'm certainly not doing the screwing.
Oh and BTW, thanks for the brilliant advice. You think I don't know not to buy from non-reputable retailers by now? Jeez.
