Again I fail to see exactly what you accuse this distributor of. Shipping out knowingly defective products? You said the first one came packaged better (appeared new), you think they magically resealed THAT box from Alpine in order to send you a defective unit?

The second package, you say its box/packaging makes it obvious it was used. Yet you didn't seem to draw this 'obvious' conclusion until the second unit did not function properly. Again, holding your hand here.... if the box looked opened/damaged/tampered with, why did you accept it from the shipper? Why did you not contact the distributor BEFORE attempting to install it? You attempt to install it, it doesn't work, you THEN claim the packaging made it obvious it was used therefore its clearly a broken unit they sent you on purpose. Do you not see the leap in logic you are making, given what you have told us?

Sorry you are getting the run around, and clearly the distibutor is not a good company to deal with, but imo your claims that they are sending defective units (presumably on purpose) is unfounded.

You talk down to me like I'm some bonehead or something, yet it's YOU who apparently isn't understanding what I said.

I clearly said that the first HU I received from the seller was new, and it was obvious it was new and had never been removed from its package. I also said the preouts going dead on that unit was probably some type of manufacturer's defect, meaning Alpine was at fault. I didn't have any beef with the seller up to this point as they told me to return it and they would replace it. That's when my problems with them began. They weren't returning my emails and I didn't yet have a phone number for them. When they finally did reply, they gave me very vague information. They didn't even bother to tell me they were out of stock of 9887's and they couldn't send me a replacement until they got more in stock. They just left me hanging. It wasn't until I did some internet surfing and was able to stumble upon someone who had their phone number, then I called them before they told me they were out of stock. I asked them to email me a tracking number when they shipped the the new HU so I would know when it's coming. They never did, and after many unanswered emails and several weeks the second HU finally arrived. I have to have this stuff shipped to my place of employment because no one is home at my house during the day to accept shipments. Because of this, my stuff is usually received by our secretary, so it isn't like she can reject the stuff when it shows up. Besides, it was inside another box so the condition of 9887 factory box couldn't be seen right away. It had to be opened to see. Once I opened it the outside of the box was tattered looking, not necessarily dented or beat, but it didn't look new either. When I opened the box, it was clear this unit at one time had been removed from the box and taken out of the plastic bag. I didn't think that much of it at the time as I was sick of not having a HU in my car and I figured if it worked okay it wouldn't matter anyway. When I plugged the unit into the wiring harness and turned the ignition key to ACC, the HU came on. It was at that point I knew the head unit had at least been plugged in and powered up by someone because new HU's have to be turned on the first time they're used by pressing the power button. Then I tried turning the volume control knob and it was stuck. It wouldn't turn. When I was finally able to get it to turn, it didn't increase or decrease the volume. It also doesn't do anything when it's depressed, which accesses a lot of the HU's other functions. Seeing that this HU has clearly been used, I would have to assume that it's much more likely that whomever used it screwed it up rather than thinking it came from Alpine that way. Had the HU never been removed from its packaging, then it would be clear the unit came from Alpine defective.

Let me ask you this, doesn't a retailer have an obligation to provide a completely functional item to its customers when they're selling the item as brand new and if it isn't, it's their responsibility to iron out the problem with their supplier? What good would it do me to get pi$$ed at Alpine as you're saying I should be? I could contact them, but they're just going to tell me to go pi$$ up a rope because I purchased the unit from an unauthorized dealer. That shouldn't be my fight anyway. That's for the retailer to duke out. Secondly, when the seller tells me (not once, but several times) that they're sending me a brand new replacement, I expect the replacement to be brand new, not taken out of the box, screwed with and then put back in the box to be sold as new. That's a completely unethical business practice and if you combine that with them not responding to emails, not listing a business phone number, not sending out tracking numbers, and the very unprofessional manner in which they conduct themselves on the phone, it doesn't take long to put 2 and 2 together.

BTW, it's not a good idea to get on my nerves either. I've put up with enough BS over this issue, I don't need more from you!

Hey im just tryin to invision the situation as if it was me. And if it was, I wouldnt be in a good mood with you right now watsoever. It just seemed to me like you were looking out for them by some of the things you were saying.

I am by any means not trying to start any trouble, just throwing my point of view into it.

And I have been here for awhile now actually, I just dont post much, I mostly read and try to learn new things.
