i don't know why everyone is getting on Mikey's case now...a while ago i posted a thread asking for the most underrated subs and i said it's generally known that a R 12 can take 1K and 15 can take 1.5K and a dozen people were dropping me down saying I didn't have a clue what i was talking about because R's don't take close to that...

how about the 2004 Type Rs?

do you all think they can take 700-800 watts RMS daily?

Im thinking about going with one SWR-1041D in a 1.75 ported enclosure tuned to 28hz

Yeah...well I had two 10s, but made the mistake of going sealed with them. I'm not sure about loudness, as in my little Mustang they got loud enough for me, but as far as SQ goes, they were lacking. They just weren't very musical sounding, couldn't play very demanding/complex tracks very well, etc. They were DECENT, but not worth the retail cost I paid for them. Now if I was doing a budget SPL install and only listened to rap, they for sure would be a contender. I don't know about 2300w, but from what I have heard they will take 1000w continuous no prob. Over that, I don't know, but if they were my woofers I wouldn't do it unless I was burping...

Not getting into the bullshit stories, but when I had my R's, I enjoyed them well they lasted. Got a good 2 years out of them and was doing 141.2 in a sealed 1.75 each chamber enclosure on the TL of 1000rms, big 3, 200amp altenator 0/1g wire. Sounded good and loud. i will try to vouch on this one. i have 4 hifonics bxi2607d's and 4 12'' R's. for burps the amps are at .5 ohms. no problems at all. i have put 2 amps on 1 sub, no problem. a lot of it has to do with the box and then of course box rise and electrical. 2 12's in 4 cubes will take a bxi2607d @ 1 ohm and a good solid electrical will take that all day long. but with that install could not take much more.

I personally have experience with the type r's and love them. My first one was a 12" and it is rated at 500 rms. I had it running at 600rms and it screamed for more. So I gave it around 800 rms and that seems to be just right. I used my friends 1000 watt rms on it just to see how it would handle and although it took it, it started to bottom out and even after a while a smell arose. So with the 12's i wouldn't recommend more than 800 rms per 12. The 15 is a different story. Although it is rated at at 750 rms, I have seen it 1200 rms with no problem as a daily setup. I guess what I am trying to say is that the type r is a very solid reliable sub that is capable of being very very loud for the price. I would take 2 type r 12's for about $200 over any single L7 or SSD that is priced over $200. Great sub

I had two Type X's in a Lexus RX330 and they did sound very good. I now run two 15 Type Rs in my Escalade and they do get very loud but perform well. I like the type Rs a little better. For price they do a superb job for what I need. I dont compete or anything either, so Im cool with them.
