He had to roll to volume on the zx2500 due to fuse (meca) issues if i remember right. BUT he never used it for daily, he could not drive with that box in the truck. Not to mention that any sub would be rather loud in his truck. For daily those subs DO NOT like anything for extended periods of time over 1000+ rms.

lol im not gonna ask nor take any money from anyone. if you ran 1000w to your type r and it got stinky...how is that being wrong? it simply "didnt work for [you]". end of story.

I finally, after over a year of beating the piss out of it, clipping it, bottoming it out, feeding it 4x it's rated power, and blasting test tones....
I finally killed my original type-r 10". I was doing some testing today, and I decided to screw around and try USACi streetbeat again. Well, it was loud as piss, it did a 149.5 average over 30 seconds, and at the end of the run the amp went into protect.

Usually when the amp does that, it is because of low voltage, but since I had the car on, I knew it wasn't that. So I peeked inside the cabin to see smoke pouring out of the ports. Hit the cone....locked up solid. So after all the abuse, all the full tilt streetbeat and driveby runs, I finally destroyed this sub.

Ha about time the R fell....could u listen to it daily if u wanted to or only competing purposes at that wattage level?

I could listen to it daily at a lower level, not at the level I was playing it at. Basically I was getting a little greedy because I wanted to post up a big streetbeat number. Most likely I was clipping the amp and WAY overpowering the sub, toasting it.
As for the TL, I don't know what causes that. I've had that happen with numerous laptops AND meters. It picks up interference from somewhere, and I have no idea how to get rid of it. Sometimes it does that, other days it doesnt.

Exactly what my experience was. I wasnt about to do an install on someones vehicle and push a woofer beyond what I thought it could handle in a daily situation based off my personal experience. I only felt comfortable sending them on their way with 1000wrms going to one, for the insurance that they wouldnt burn up the woofer and come crying to me telling me I did something wrong.

I know Tom, he did NOT run it daily. If for whatever reason he choose too, he could not drive around full tilt like we do daily.

i will bow out of this thread with this: we ran a RATED 2300wrms amp to a type r 12 setting gains with a 50hz -6db test tone, and it worked nicely

Indeed. Ive ran my fair share of power, owned subs you couldnt get your hands on if you wanted. So **** off.

Why are we talking about powering R's with 2300w anyway? How useless is that....If you can hit 142 with a pair off 1000w...that is just a waste if the amp was really putting out 2300w (which obviously it wasn't). Besides, the SQ sucks so...who cares.

From past experience, I honestly hated the sound of the Type R, but with plenty of break in time it really openes up......single 10" set up i did in the rear of a some what stealthy( beside woofer) 350Z.
