I'm now a Type R believer.

you are forgiven...
but im still surprised being in especially this forum you don't know more about the Type R's...unless you left for a while... was a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge hype bout 2 yrs ago
I completely forgot about tommyk and his experience with them, and dreaded mark potts, and so forth. I remember the hype and everything about them a while back. I was just being an *** and not stopping to think for a minute. Like I said, long day at work and school and a lot of frustration building up I guess.

For those that HAVE this sub or worked with it.. Is the displacment REALLY .071 cu ft? Seems small for some reason to me. AND a buddy of mine is getting 2 of them (12's) wants me to build a box for them, BUT will not let me go ported... So, I have him a sealed box drawn up to fit his trunk that is about 2.5 ft^3 before displacment. Think that will be a good size for them (spec sheets say .7 to 1.0 but man thats a TINY box) he will be sending a HiFonics Bxi 1206 to them wired at 1 ohm. Thoughts?

Please for the sack of god, get me a video of this magical woofer handling that much power. I will paypal 5 dollars if you can honestly proove to me that a R will handle over 2000wrms..........................
Can you pm me your paypal IgnoreMe?

Tommys set up is NOT daily, nor could it take the power daily. It was a 4 second burp OR 30 seconds of drive by at most.

My 15in type R after 30 seconds of drive-by stank on a orion 2500D clamped @ ~1600rms.

The only reason I was so quick to jump the gun is because we were talking about someone elses install. I guess Im just to used to hearing people say "my buddies this and my buddies that"
In my own "personal" experience I havent felt comfortable giving one more than 1000wmrs. I see others have had far better results than me, but I started off just wanting proof until I let my hot headedness get to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
well im used to hearing the whole my buddy routine too. but i was the one who installed and tuned it, which is why i took offense.

if it didnt work for you, it simply didnt work for you. we had good luck with it, and the only thing that held me back from buying the sub was the nasty aesthetics of it. even after tommyk90 said his 10 type r was louder off his zx2500.1 than a DD9510, re sx, re sexxx, and a md napalm, i couldnt get over the ribbed surround to buy the **** things.

can the type r handle 2300w? i dont know. but with a 2.5" voil on the 12, it would seem like a tough feat. we ran the PA to the sub, but did no testing as far as clamping goes. whatever the amp gave out is what we were comfortable running the sub with.

we have difference experiences with equipment and installs. i remember when people we're telling me the re xxx would handle 3000w, but when we ran my kx2500.1 to my buddies 05 xxx it bottomed out at not even close to full tilt. maybe it could handle it thermally, but physically in an average daily box for a 15 (usually around 3.5-4 cubes, we used 4) it just couldnt. thats the nature of the hobby, not everyone is going to experience the same exact thing every time.

i was just reading a thread with tommyk and his rype r 10. he said in the thread that although he couldnt go all out with the zx2500.1, he would just turn it down a little bit and he could use it for daily bumping. again, being on team kicker you probably talk to him and know him personally as well as his setup, but im just stating what ive gathered from that particular thread.

Yeah I know it wasnt daily. I was trying to back my claim of 1000wrms to it daily based on my experience with it. But if people have successfully ran more power to them daily than I guess its a different story.

.07 is a pretty average displacement for most 12" subwoofers that are commercially available. the only ones that seem to really get away from this displacement are the online guys like FI where they use huge motors and shit.

He had to roll to volume on the zx2500 due to fuse (meca) issues if i remember right. BUT he never used it for daily, he could not drive with that box in the truck. Not to mention that any sub would be rather loud in his truck. For daily those subs DO NOT like anything for extended periods of time over 1000+ rms.

For the sake of trying to keep my dignity pm me your paypal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
lol im not gonna ask nor take any money from anyone. if you ran 1000w to your type r and it got stinky...how is that being wrong? it simply "didnt work for [you]". end of story.
