Hello, today although it was cold as hell, I went shopping for an amp and could not find one that could provide 1200 watts RMS @ 1ohm mono or 2x600 @ 2 ohms. Maybe some one can make some suggestons. I am willing to spend $200.00 and would like it to be NIB.
So any way I picked up a distribution block 1/0 input and (4) 4awg outputs which in the picture you probably can tell this 1/0 and 4awg wire doesn't look like regular car audio wire. Actually this is wire use for connecting electrical and is very stiff, oil and water resistant. Does anybody else use this wire? I bought 15' of 4awg today for $6, and last week I bought the 12' of the 1/0 wire for $22. When I first saw how the distribution block worked I thought I was in trouble, but I was able to get the 1/0 wire to fit tight and snug. It can't be pulled out at all.
The meter shows the resistance of the 1/0 wire, which really amazed me. Both wires are copper, which we all know is the best conductor of electricity. If you decide to use this type of wire keep in mind there is an extra jacket on it that needs to be peeled off before sliding on the screw nut for the D-block.
I also am showing a 100 amp circuit breaker which I will install in between the battery and 1/0 wire just incase some how it ground to the chasis. After the D-block I will have seperate fuses for the 2 amps.
Enjoy.
