Im just showing off

what your missing is the fact that an electrical current does not run through a wire it runs on the surface so the more strands you have the more surface area you have allowing current to pass easily along the surface that has like 15 strands compared to say RF wire with 4,000 some odd strands which one do you think will pass current better?

I am not a wire expert , but I would have to guess the reason they use the wire I have, is for transfering AC voltage better and safer. So I fiqure if it is good for 600 volts AC, it can't be bad for 14.4 volts DC . Beside resistance takes the easy path so how much different can the wir be for transferring current? I never heard anything about how the current travels on the wire , and if true I think it will travel faster on 15 strands vs 40 thousand just because there are less strands interupting the flow.

Okay here are some pics of todays progress. The wire wasn't hard to work, but I encountered some other wiring that use to be for a remote start and had to clean that mess up. I only ran the 1/0 wire to the D-block then from there next week end I will use the 4 awg for the 2 amps and Ground. Enjoy the pics.

Both wires are copper, which we all know is the best conductor of electricity.
False.

Okay I stretched the truth a little.

The data are from Smithsonian Physical Tables, Smithsonian Institution Press, 1969.

Metal Resistivity, r

gold, 99.9 pure, 0 degrees C 2.22

silver, 99.98 pure, 18 degrees C 1.63

silver, electrolytic, 0 degrees C 1.47

copper, annealed, 20 degrees C 1.72

platinum, wire, 0 degrees C 11.0

But since no one will pay for silver , platinum, or gold which one is the best per cost ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

PS I also knew goingdef was also losing his mind with that explaination. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

you are prettybold for using 1/0 for electrical. only because that stuff is a ***** to work with though.

having to use one at work and the other for my truck, i gladly pay the premium for the flexible stuff.

Well, back in the days they use to make fire wire just as tough and they didn't have half the tools they have now for stripping the jacket and cutting the strands. I only regret not buying a cutting and crimping tool for the 1/0 wire and ring terminals. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif I was able crimp using utility pliers and I soldered although crimping tightly held the ring connectors on the wire. Next time I will just pay $3.00 per foot , but that may be never, since I have already installed the electrical 1/0 wire. I think it will last longer than the premium stuff.

skin effect is for AC not DC,,,is that the knowledge tap out?
