Hello, today although it was cold as hell, I went shopping for an amp and could not find one that could provide 1200 watts RMS @ 1ohm mono or 2x600 @ 2 ohms. Maybe some one can make some suggestons. I am willing to spend $200.00 and would like it to be NIB.

So any way I picked up a distribution block 1/0 input and (4) 4awg outputs which in the picture you probably can tell this 1/0 and 4awg wire doesn't look like regular car audio wire. Actually this is wire use for connecting electrical and is very stiff, oil and water resistant. Does anybody else use this wire? I bought 15' of 4awg today for $6, and last week I bought the 12' of the 1/0 wire for $22. When I first saw how the distribution block worked I thought I was in trouble, but I was able to get the 1/0 wire to fit tight and snug. It can't be pulled out at all.

The meter shows the resistance of the 1/0 wire, which really amazed me. Both wires are copper, which we all know is the best conductor of electricity. If you decide to use this type of wire keep in mind there is an extra jacket on it that needs to be peeled off before sliding on the screw nut for the D-block.

I also am showing a 100 amp circuit breaker which I will install in between the battery and 1/0 wire just incase some how it ground to the chasis. After the D-block I will have seperate fuses for the 2 amps.

Enjoy.

Looks like good wire, assumiing you can work with it.

Basically most all Car Audio cable is over priced...Copper is down so low right now, all we pay for is the fancy insulation on the wire. Knu is the only company close to having prices that make sense, but they are still over priced for the stuff they have.

Yea, the 1/o from the electrical suppy is $1.06 per foot. I bought the 1/0 I have from Hpme Depot because I missed the closing time at the electrical. Working with it will be a challenge. I will post pics of the stuff installed tomorrow.

Cool. Funny, I couldn't find that stuff at home depot...hm...owell I bought my wire a buck a foot.

That home electrical wire? Those copper strands look really thick.
You got it ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/handclap.gif.0c301076f534e244f0460706894f19e0.gif . Like I said it will do the same thing as the expensive 1/0 wire will. Other than that $3.00 a foot is a must.

i will gladly pay more for "car audio" wire simply because of the flexibility. im kind of a puss and get agitated really easy if the wire doesn't want to cooperate.
Well I might be too I haven't ran the stuff yet. I'm shocked no one is liking the D-Block //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I was impressed when I was able to get the elevator cable to work . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

what your missing is the fact that an electrical current does not run through a wire it runs on the surface so the more strands you have the more surface area you have allowing current to pass easily along the surface that has like 15 strands compared to say RF wire with 4,000 some odd strands which one do you think will pass current better?
