yea varies depending on state. Mine fell off about 2 months ago and i used the LocTite kit thats sold at walmart. Works great. Just used a razor blade to scrape the old glue off. Took the metal/platic base off the actual mirror. Applied the activator stuff, then the glue held it in place with firm pressure for about a minute then let it sit overnight and slid the mirror back on and all good now.

i wouldnt bother reattaching it if it fell off once the glue you find in a parts store or w/e wont hold it back up it'll just fall of again unless your down grading your system.

Many auto-glass replacement stores will re-glue it for nothing if you drive in. That's what I've always done. Call your local PD if you need to know laws.

Usually if you're loud enough to lose it once, and you glue it back on good enough that the glue won't let go a second time, the glass will fail. I drove for a long time without a rear view looking at a piece of my windshield missing.
