IF U SOLVE IT I'LL PAY YOU!!! acura rsx type s aftermarket subs/amp install troubles

test your amp ground to where it's grounded and make sure you're reading atleast 12v with the engine running. If your car is a uni-body and doesn't have a full frame then there's a good possibility your ground won't be strong enough, had that problem doing an install in a vette

try new rcas. Ive gotten several sets that had continuity issues right out of the box.

also, make sure you have the right settings on your hu

Or you can make sure you are getting voltage out of your HU with a meter, then you know if its an RCA issue or a HU issue

ok I was literally just out there messing with it more and i turned my "SUB.W LEVEL" on the HU all the way up with the bass knob out of the amp and the subs play extremely quietly but they are ON. The amp gain is all the way up but it's really really quiet. progress!?
This happened to me a long time ago, i thought it was the ****** boss amp i had. it turned out to be that the speaker cable was laying on the power cable and wasnt well enough sheilded when i started drawing more power.

My money is the speaker wires linking your woofers together either got pulled out when you put them in the box or are just incorrectly wired.

get a DMM and measure ohms at the end of your speaker wire.

Haha if no one on here can i ****** hope to God the best buy guy can:wallbash:
I had a similar problem with a jvc head unit I had. It played minimal when I turned it up. At the time I had a incriminator 40.1 with 2 atomic apx 15". It turned out my problem was that the pre-amp put volts (I believe 2 volts pre-amp out was what the head unit had) wasn't enough. So I got a clarion eq that produced 7 volts (or so it states) and it got my subs to play at full blast. Just an idea if all else fells. Check what you head unit says on how much pre-amp volts it does

The thing is I've tried and changed every possible setting on both HUs. So I really don't think it's that. Speakers are fine it's just the subs playing quietly. The amp gain is all the way up so they should be pushing 1000w rms wired at 1 ohm and it's not even close to that.

@Inter007 I think you're onto something especially since you had the same problem with a JVC HU. I realllllllyyyy don't wanna re-splice another wiring harness so does anyone know of any decks that can fit the newer, smaller 16 pin jvc wiring harness? Or do they only fit jvc? ****** hate splicing lol

Did you have to splice a new harness for that Clarion HU? I'm starting to think my problem is identical to yours but I just don't want to splice another harness haha
No I just plugged rca's from where it said sub out on the back of stereo to the clarion and then from clarion to amp. See if you can borrow a head unit with my per amp out volts and see if that's the problem. I used the clarion eqs746

Is this how you had the old setup set? If so then your subs are likely done for. Gain isn't volume.

Use a DMM - AC Volts and measure the output voltage on the amp... if you are getting a reading of 15-35v then your subs are probably done for. The amp is doing its job. Like fatboytyler said, I feel like this is an equipment issue.

how loud will it play hooked up to the i pod ? will it go full blast volumes ? or does it still play soft even with ipod turned up all the way and gain on the amp set at 3/4 ?
again this question will rule out if your subs are burnt up - an or if your amp will function.

try the ipod hook up again and see how loud you can get it to play.

if it can play full volume like you expect it to by using the ipod strait to the amp then you know its 100% your headunit rca outputs to the amp being too weak.
