You have a wiring problem. You have missed that wiring problem. I've been doing this for almost 30 years and I still overlook small wiring problems sometimes.
Go back through all of your signal wiring and double check that there is continuity on the RCAs and that all of them are in the correct spots. You can do that by testing the ones you have or, as was suggested numerous times, connect an mp3 player directly to the amp via a different cable.
Also, if you are using the bass knob, unplug and inspect both ends. Sometimes a pin will get out of place and cause the gain circuit to be open. When that happens, simply unplugging and plugging the bass knob wiring back in will fix it.
