IF U SOLVE IT I'LL PAY YOU!!! acura rsx type s aftermarket subs/amp install troubles

You have a wiring problem. You have missed that wiring problem. I've been doing this for almost 30 years and I still overlook small wiring problems sometimes.

Go back through all of your signal wiring and double check that there is continuity on the RCAs and that all of them are in the correct spots. You can do that by testing the ones you have or, as was suggested numerous times, connect an mp3 player directly to the amp via a different cable.

Also, if you are using the bass knob, unplug and inspect both ends. Sometimes a pin will get out of place and cause the gain circuit to be open. When that happens, simply unplugging and plugging the bass knob wiring back in will fix it.

did you wire the subs correctly and check ohm load with a dmm? also your gonna fry the **** out of those subs if you arent careful. try hooking a single sub to the amp free air on low volume see if theres any output

I wired the subs the same way i did my last setup in my other rsx, which is at 1ohm. The best buy guy advised me when i did it to my other setup. And like i stated, ALL of my wiring connections are 100% solid---inside the sub box and all throughout the car. I've unplugged the bass knob numerous times because my hfi1000.1d only worked in my other car without the knob. I am going to buy a dmm and the RCA cord for an ipod ASAP. Any more help is much appreciated!

L/O mode

SUB.W : Selects if the Rear/SW terminals are used for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). REAR: Selects if the Rear/SW terminals are used for connecting the speakers (throughout an external amplifier)

Make sure this mode is on SUB.W

TRY THE IPOD TEST!!! This will rule out your amp and sub as being the problem. You can manually turn your amp on by running a wire between your amp's + wire and its remote turn on terminal. Plug in RCA's and play music.

I would guess its your head unit.

Ok, so i got the RCA to 3.5mm and the subs play, BUT like with my original hifonics amp, had to take the bass knob connection out of the amp for them to play. Not sure sure if that's a hifonics defect or what... bubba said if they play during the iPod test, it's either the HU or the RCAs, but i have 2 sets of RCAs, one from my boss amp kit, and one set of kicker cables that i literally just got the other day. So my guess is it's something with the HU?????????? Even though i've tried 2 different HU's, one of them being straight out of its box... maybe my wiring harness or something? idk

If RCA's are run from plugs on the back of your HU to the amp, it is not the wiring harness. There is a problem with the HU RCA out. It may be as simple as settings. Make sure the sub output setting on your HU is turned on. Also, try with different media. Try CD's, radio, usb, and auxillary.

ok I was literally just out there messing with it more and i turned my "SUB.W LEVEL" on the HU all the way up with the bass knob out of the amp and the subs play extremely quietly but they are ON. The amp gain is all the way up but it's really really quiet. progress!?
