last night i was wondering if i can tape and put foil on the stock dash (it comes right off) and fiberglass it like that to make a custom dash, would that work?

I don't like using foil. It often sticks to the glass. Also it's not adhesive so the foil doesn't stick while your working with it. Just use masking tape. Two layers.

If you do two layers of tape (I recommend that you do the second layer perpendicular to the first layer) it won't soak through. Well, unless you use the blue painters maksing tape. It's really absorbent and will soak it through.

The foil doesn't stick and can cause problems IMO>

Since all it is is a mold you should be able to just foil and tape over it then fiberglass it, and as long as you have the same shape, ur in bussiness.

Only thing is the brackets and what not that hold it to the car, you will need some way to secure it. but other than that i would say if it's too big ur fine since you can sand away, but if your to small you have to glass back over that piece.

dont know what you mean by inside? The car?, no, it wouldn't matter, i dont think

But You might be able to by some that are similar and attach them to your glassed dash, or take the ones off of ur stock dash if you dont plan on keeping it, or go to the junk yard and pull some from there.

I mean you have alot of options.

I've heard 7 layers for a box, so idk 7. I mean 7 layers is pretty strong, if your just trying to make it thick use some cloth.

Inside as in me taking off the stock dash and putting fiberglass inside of it or put fiber glass outside of the dash

Are you sure you need to fiberglass it? A lot of the stuff you see in custom dash work isnt' glass. It's mdf or bondo or some other material.

mdf? never seen that before, havent researched bondo, and i dont know how that works., i would think fiberglassing would be easy idk

Just make sure to get the pieces that go in like the vents you will want to get the depth of those also.
