I was hoping for some comments on my upgrade.

Till now, I had a polk momo c400.4 running a mmc6500 component set up front and mmc650's in the back. I had a c500.1 running a sr124-dvc in a 1.21 cu ft sealed box. I was not entirely happy with this setup although it was a good beginners system as it was my first aftermarket setup ever. I never was happy with the sound of the polk speakers as they were very unrefined. I am now upgrading.

I just ordered a Jl audio 13w7 prowedge box and a 1000/1v2 to power that. The prowedge is the 13.5" w7 in a sealed box all pre made by jl. I ordered 2 sets of jl audio c5-650 component sets for the front and back and they will be powered by a 300/4v2. I know I could have put more power in the speaks but I am more into refined sound than crazy loud. I believe these speakers are what I am looking for.

I got everything brand new at a great price. I have a jensen vm9512hd (the hd radio updated one) and I have to say that it is a huge improvement over the plain vm9512. The quality is way up. The software no longer has any quirks and it now puts out the advertised 4v of pre amp output. While I would advice people to stay the hell away from the vm9512, I have to say that the vm9512hd is a fantastic headunit and much better. I was hoping for people comments on my system.

2006 rsx type s as of this moment. I will be getting a new car in december so this equipment will be transferred to whatever I get at that time.

I hope your not calling the SR sub unrefined. Its one of the most musical subs I have ever heard.

Thanks for the comments. I would not recommend polk audio other than for a beginner system. I was never really happy with the sound. It just never was what I wanted. I finally had enough and went for the real deal. the 13w7 is top of the line. I and the c5's are smooth and thats what I like. I got a great deal but this shit still cost me a pretty penny. I will like it though.

The sub was truthfully the bast part of the system but it's nothing compared to the 13w7 off the 1000/1v2 that I am throwing in. The main problem with this system was the mmc6500's anc mmc650's which were not terrible but not what I look for in a system.

You act like you have it installed to give a fair review. I believe you just want to believe the high price tagged JL as being the "top of the line", which really there is better product out there and especially for the price. Even your so called deal you got probably wasn't all that great.

Don't compare until you have heard both setups up, then again it will never be fair as you are giving a considerable amount of power to the JL, than you were to your Polk.

You are right that I do not have it installed. I have listened to the w7's extensively though and I am qualified to give my opinion. The polk sub was not bad. It c, ould of used a smaller box contrary to what polk said. A 1 cu ft box would of been better than the 1.21 I had. Even with only 545 watts on it, it seemed to need a bit more control and it distorted easily. A smaller box would of helped. The polk is not a bod woofer but I have heard the w7's and their is no comparison. The polk speakers are very mediocre at best.

The stuff you got is nice other than the C5 components. IMO for the price you probably got those for you could have done a lot better.

I got them for 289 a piece shipped. What could I have gotten seriously better for the price? I heard these speakers and they are just about perfect and what I was looking for. I am mainly interested in smooth, refined output.

Rainbow SLC's.....The C5's sound pretty harsh to me and I wasn't impressed with the midbass output either. You did get them for a really good price though.
