Slowly piecing together a small system for my girlfriends car which includes a 10" custom sub built by TeamPSI, Phoenix Gold Xenon 400.1 sub amp, knukonceptz 8ga. amp kit, box is not built yet but will be around .75 cubic feet sealed, and will be using an mtx re-q for processing which I still need to order, using the factory cd/mp3 player. She just wanted some extra bass to fill in where the factory system falls short. Anyways enjoy the pics I know it is nothing too spectacular compared to other similar threads. Oh yea the vehicle is a 2008 Toyota Yaris Liftback. Anyways any criticism or suggestions are welcome whether good or bad.

For right now it will be keeping the stock speakers as they sound alright, they just lack any type of bass. The sub will be turned way down when she is driving just to add a small amount of bass, she doesn't even really need the 400 watts she would have been happy with 150 but I can't help myself lol. And yes the 43mpg highway is awesome plus it is a blast to drive and handles great.

She just sold her 99 tacoma 5-speed to buy the Yaris.

Bass should be alright, but for good "sound" you should seal up the doors well and add some aftermarket speakers and a small amp to power them. Even coaxials in a sealed door and a cheap amp would be a big improvement over factory speakers.

After you get it installed listen and dampen what rattles first.

Yea depending on what the setup sounds like I will probably look into replacing the door speakers and maybe add a small amplifier if needed.
Being that it's a small car, it will prob suit her needs. To be blunt though, its a very beginner system and is not a good representative of what the aftermarket can offer.

a system consists of much more than a sub and amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

You are right about that. I was saying that even the sub and amp he is putting in is primitive.

I wanted to do a small system like you are shooting for in my wifes car.
She said just get me a deck that works, lol! She won't let me do anything else.

I am going to at least replace the factory highs as they are over 10 years old now and ****!
Driving with ten year old speakers would be a nightmare. I would not be able to drive the car lol.
