//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I've never blown a speaker listening to ACDC. Infact, I may buy their new album. So we can safely say that ACDC is what kills subs.
Pretty sure I could pop a mid or two with them if I tried hard enough however. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif Might need to call upon the almighty power of dc first.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I've never blown a speaker listening to ACDC. okay, lets start @ the bottom...I have nothing against Hawaiians, but why do you all keep coming here to tell us what DC is, yet obviously refuse to even read the quotes we give you from experts who say otherwise? Maybe DC is something totally different in Hawaii. *shrug*
Nobody is suggesting all Hawaiians are stupid (unless they are making a joke)... but you have to admit its pretty funny seeing so many Hawaiians in this thread sticking up for each other, and all coming to the same flawed conclusions.
Aloha.
^until, you're. engineer your way our of that fail.
for fvcks sake...it was a play on words...if you read earlier in the thread 06 said to whoever he was arguing with "...yaaaaaaay, im special EDgineer..." now we can look @ this in two ways, either the special ed from crank yankers (obvious, if you seen the show) or literally that the dude is a engineer that has a learning disability, requiring special education, such as that the mentally challenged receive through the public education system, and thought it would've been funny to combine the "fact" that the dude is an engineer with the fact that he is special ed. hence the initial, special edgineer, shortened to edgineer.FFS man, its ENGINEER!
right from hawaii, good one! theres a reason people like you are on an ISLAND, so the rest of society never really has to put up with you
well said, er, other than the monkey part...but whatever... if we are such a cancer on the scourge of society, then seriously, why do all these "americans", japanese, chinese, indians, canadians...shall i continue...french, sweeds, germans, english, polish, australians, and on and on and on, come here...to an island...in the middle of the ocean...to a place where the "rest of society doesnt want to deal with you" (you = us unejumacated hawaiians)?yet white monkeys like you flock here by the millions to see sand and water![]()
that is what we were looking at, the clipped portion and its ability to, er... overpower a sub, even though the amp is severely underpowered, and not the signal as a whole.lmao. I love how 06salterego has broken down into soap boxing.
I understand where you're coming from.
But if you take a snippet of ANY wave, technically it's DC since it's not going up nor down. It's a single frequency. Thus, a direct current.
However, when taking the whole wave, when you get a clipped signal, the frequency is still fluctuating, so it's not "direct current."
You should go and read a book or... 5.

Please stop raping me.
Love,
The English Language.
Well every person from hawaii in this thread is retarded

yeah yeah...pretty much
riiiiggghhhht.....People from hawaii are stupid

and thats why hawaiians sailed across the pacific using the stars as our source of navigation how many hundreds of years before any haole??? we are stupid for practicing conservation of our resources, land and ocean, long before the western concept of conservation to save animals??? how many hundreds of years ago was that??? when did darwin note his theory of evolution? 1830's? thats funny because hawaiians had the concept of evolution down, passed through oral record, called the KUMULIPO...look it up. hawaiians are stupid yeah? thats why the Kingdom of Hawaii had the highest literacy rate of any english settled area at the time with the largest publishing of both 'olelo haole and 'olelo hawaii newspapers, numbering in excess of 20 just for the island of oahu. tell me why Iolani Palace had a telephone installed before the white house as well as electricity? please tell me why, if we are sooo stupid, that the king had so many diplomatic relations with powerful nations across the globe to better our world standing and economic standing??? please, if you can, explain this to me...
you know what, we are stupid, we are stupid for listening to our queen when she said not to bear arms when americans, in an act of war, stormed Iolani Palace and took our monarch prisoner with no backing from the president of the united states, and ally of the Kingdom. We are stupid for not shedding our blood to protect our people, our land, and our culture...
You can say its similar to DC, because for an undetermined amount of time there is no oscillation. But again, time cannot be ignored. Call it similar to DC all you want, but it is not DC. DC does not oscillate, it has a constant offset from 0. "there's no DC present in a squarewave, unless it's asymmetrical about the y-axis. In the time domain, the only way any waveform can have a DC component is for it to have a non-zero average value ... but the average must be computed over a long time ... a very long time indeed ... to qualify as DC" - http://www.audiogroupforum.com/csforum/showthread.php?t=4332&highlight=clipping&page=3this clipped portion creates a plateau and that plateau WILL output more power during that period or consistency, or period of time where the signal is at a constant, rather than alternating. that is inherently similar in function to a direct current, where no oscillation is present.
You guys keep talking about a clipped signal like there some evil voodoo in it. A squared sine wave simply has more power (more area under its wave form if you will) than its non-squared counterpart. That's it, more power, period. THAT is what gives clipped amplifiers their notorious fame for killing speakers, the extra wattage. Nothing else. I dont know how else to express it, or what other experts I could quote that would get a few of you to actually believe me. So at this point all I can do is repeat myself.that is inherently similar in function to a direct current, where no oscillation is present. it is also similar in the way that it WILL heat up the media that is conducting it (the clipped signal) very rapidly, in comparison to the unclipped "clean" signal. that is, from what i understand, the basis for 06salterego's argument.
I can appreciate you trying to mediate here. I get your point. But the problem is 06alterego uses the term DC incorrectly, and then uses that as the basis for his theories on how square waves affect speaker performance. A case of flawed wording leading to a flawed theory. And he further intensifies the problem by insisting he is correct due to his vast knowledge and experience.one that is fundamentally correct in the case of similarities between the clipped plateau and the direct current but at the same time incorrect in the wording of it being purely a direct current.
So assuming a fully clipped sine wave from the ridiculously clipped 800 watt amp, how is 1600 watts going to over heat the coil faster than 3000 watts? Id genuinely like to know the math behind your theory.on a side note, it would be correct to assume that the excess heat from a ridiculously clipped 800 watts will thermally destroy the subs quicker than giving them ~3000 watts each of clean power...as stated earlier
When I saw the first one of you guys act this way, I thought "wow there's an insecure person that cant take a joke"... but now it seems to be a common theme in this thread that Hawaiians lash out at main-landers. I mean really, dont you feel a little bit silly taking the Hawaii stuff so serious? I mean, I could say that your inability to link education with tourism is a sign of a lack of education, but you'd probably not take it as a humorous joke... so I wont say it.well said, er, other than the monkey part...but whatever... if we are such a cancer on the scourge of society, then seriously, why do all these "americans", japanese, chinese, indians, canadians...shall i continue...french, sweeds, germans, english, polish, australians, and on and on and on, come here...to an island...in the middle of the ocean...to a place where the "rest of society doesnt want to deal with you" (you = us unejumacated hawaiians)?
