I need a legit system for around $800

Just bought a 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe and the stock system is complete trash. The cars got 2 tweeters in the dash, 2 doors speakers, and 2 rear speakers.

Sub: I already plan on getting a 10'' JL W7 or a 12'' W6, is the W7 really worth it?

Speakers: I don't know which speakers/tweeters to settle on. I listen to all kinds of music ranging from Hip Hop, Rock, Trance, Oldies/Classic Rock, etc. so I need something that's well rounded to just about all types of music. I was looking at Polk's and JL's but don't know which would suit me better.

Amp:I have a Memphis 500W D Class 2 Channel Amp. Not sure weather to just get another amp for the speakers or buy a big 5 Channel and sell the Memphis.

Deadend: Planned on sealing the doors, rear deck, and the trunk. Should I throw some under the dash or just 3M it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm trying to get out of the Best Buy entry level of car audio.

jl is expensive, i'd suggest getting something else. you can get a type R you can get for $130. headunit anything from alpine, eclipse, pioneer, jvc,.... what brand you like? what modle is the amp you have?

the dash kit for that car is expensive too if you have dual climate control as well

Bridge the rear two channels of the amp to drive the sub for now.

Also if you look around you can find this stuff for alot less than Crutchfield

Many good sites to look at just do your research and ask lots of questions if needed.

All said and done here about 750.plus the cost of the dash kit, didn't look for that. Just bridge the rear channels on the amp to run the sub and you are set.

150 watts from that amp isnt going to move that Type R very much. Plus I have always heard R's dont like sealed enclosures. Total failure on those suggestions imo..

^^^ the older type r's (1241)were pretty good in sealed boxes..i ran 4 sealed.

op, if you got the $$ to blow on w7's or w6, i would HIGHLY say you need to be looking into FI/dc/sundown subs...

make sure you buy a GOOD amp to go along with the GOOD subs!!

Thats a decent system within budget...could most likely find it all in the classifieds a little cheaper. Only thing I didnt cover was deadener.

i dont think its hard at all my system is 1 18inch fl btl 200 craigslist,set of jbl coax 60.00 ebay,15 feet knu 0gauge wire 35 ebay,mb quart 450 70 caco,pioneer 9800 bt deck 150 local shop used,hifoncs brz 2400 276 ebay,rcas and random connectors 50 ebay,total 876 just add a lil more for the box and it can be done

since you have a memphis 500d get a alpine type r sub and then get a HU for around 150 so thats like 300 gone and u have 500 left. get a little 4 channel and a componet set and a sub box for the woofer and you should be in your budget even with buying a wireing kit and dash kit and such.

JL is definately over priced, but it is far from junk.

You obviously are just regergitating the JL hatered that runs rampent.

OP, if you are set on JL the w6 is a much better value than the w7, and infact has much better SQ abilities. However I do believe there are much better options for you with the amount of money you have to deal with. DC lvl3, Sundown SA, FI bl... You can get great value for money buying used fron good sellers. Keep in mind that you can get pretty loud with one sub. 140+ with one 12" is pretty easy to do.

i dislike JL because i have used there products and they just arnt to my stanards and like you said for the money you can get something better so why would you go with JL and if something was to happen and you blow there sub they use like a 2.75 inch voice coil so no one can recone them besides JL so you cant do the re-cone yourself. but if you know what you are doing you should never blown a woofer.
