OP
For Double Din and processor the Alpine W202, W302, W505 with the H701 processor is almost impossible to beat.
If you decide togo with the W505 you will need a speical optical cable made be panasonic (that is not longer made.) Alpine has not release their cable yet. It is a 4 pin to Toslink optical cable, the W505 has the 4 pin optical out on the back. If you decide to go with the W505 you can buy the cable from partstore.com it is the CA-LRD60EX (its not cheap, I paid 112.00 shipped for mine)

My mistake, I meant 1 DIN.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Yeah, I like the looks of the Alpines. Seem to have lots of options, and not as expensive as they are made out to be (at least not compared to Eclipse, even though the Eclipse model has the HDD and NAV).//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifListen to this man.
I used the DVA-9861 running optical to the H701 and used the C701 for control. I don't think you can beat this system. It doesn't have a built in screen, but you could always just buy a standalone screen and run the video output from the 9861. I just sold that complete set for around $800 since I'm switching vehicles, so you can definitely find it in your price range.
You are not going to find what you want in a 1.5 din. Just mount a single din unit in there and fill up the space with blank panel or a pocket. No sense sacrificing function for form. Honestly I hate the way in dash screens look anyway, fold out or not. I had one for about a week and couldn't take the ridiculous glow while driving at night (not to mention most of the interfaces look pretty terrible and video up front is rather unnecessary).
Here's my opinion. Units like the 9861, 880PRS, DRZ9255, etc. don't need all that navigation/hdd/screens/graphics bullshit because they are build for sound not gimmicks and they've got the SQ part nailed. Want a GPS, get a Garmin for $150 and it will be a better unit. Need a lot of music on hand, just hook an ipod up to the alpine decks. Need a screen up front...you don't.My mistake, I meant 1 DIN.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Yeah, I like the looks of the Alpines. It would not be worth it. I'm sure it can be done, but unless there is a pre-fab piece out there by Metra or someone, it will be a decent amount of work to get the double din installed and even more work to make it look good.Ive gotta Bronco, so ive never had a double DIN. How hard would it be to put one in my 1.5 DIN. Think itd even be worth it???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
that's SQL for ya.you should quit pretending to give a shit about SQ and just admit you want to look cool to your friends while sounding decent.
Yeah, this was out of curiosity only. Ive never seen it done, and wanted to know if anyone would actually have a reason for it. Never personally had a desire for it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifIt would not be worth it. Well I dont really wanna go thru the hastle of installing a double DIN.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Ill put up some pics at the end of the month when I get home, but judging from the design, it will be DIFFICULT.Can you post a picture of the dash so I can see want looks like, so I can see how hard it will be to make a DD fit. Seeing the way you feel about I.C.E I still say one of the Apline Double Din W units with the H701. Or as recommand above the DVA-9861 with a stand alone screen and the H701.
Or just keep your AVH-P5700 and buy somthing like a Audio Control DQL-8, Rockford 360.2, find a PPI DQX-730, or the Apline H701 with the C701(controller I thinks thats the model number) and save yourself some money.
WerdALPINE 9887 awesome HU has Imprint, had mine imprinted today and all I can say is wow , very good HU has all the bells and whistles youl ever need, just my 2cnts. ))//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif
