How To Set My "Turn Dials" With This Set-Up

Well with this set up my friend ended up wiring it as follows: it is to our understanding that this is a mono amp as well. They ran a positive and negative cable from each sub straight to the terminals on the amp. So four speaker wires total running into the amp (2 subs)... To my understanding this is the wrong way to wire. He says it works and he ain't messing with it and "I worry too much". If this is in fact wired wrong what's the negative side effects of what he did?
If its a mono amp and its only stable to 1 or 2 ohms and he wired it wrong. It could see less than 1 ohm load and could go into protect or blow. In worse cases it could take the subs with it.

Everything from the amp back has been done wrong. I advised him not to do what this "one kid" told him. He did and it makes sound so he thinks it's fine, no matter what I say. So I suppose I am done here. You may see him on these forums one day asking why his system is all f'd up. Until then , adios, and I really appreciate all the help you have provided!
