How should an Amp get?

Hi guys,

I just got my DUAL 580w XIA3145 installed with my 2 10" subs and it sounds amazing! I was looking for a cheap solution so I bought those 3 things and built my own box and it came out perfect.

Well it is pretty hot today at 90F and I felt the top of the sub and its pretty warm.

It's not burning my hand hot, but its pretty darn warm. This is my first time doing any car audio so I want to make sure its ok. I have it hidden under the rear seat so that probably is heating it up too...I just want to make sure its ok being at that temperature. I wanted it to be stealth so that was the best place it could go. It has about ~3" of space all the way round...its just the top and bottom that touch carpet on back of the seat and the floor. Is this ok?

The Amp says on the box it has thermal overload protection...so will that make it ok?

Thanks,

its okay to get pretty **** hot... esp when its 90 out

i really couldnt tell from your post, as it was kind of confusing, but did you say the top is touching something? if so, the top needs to be open to air, as this is where the heat is released... and make sure it is mounted right-side up or vertical... not upside down of course

should be , id be more worried about ur amp heating up
Sorry don't know what I was thinking. I didn't mean the sub is hot, I meant the amp. Sorry confusing i know!!

Yes it is AMP that is hot. The back of the seat is touching the top of the amp. The sides are clear though and it has space and airflow from the left side.

And yes I can keep my hand on it without having to pull away and I don't have much heat tolerance in my hands. My dad is crazy with heat tolerance (/end offtopic)

if u want maybe think about reloacating it sumwhere where nuthing is touching it and its not indirect sunlight, i mean it can take sum heat but heat equals wear on it and lower performance, not saying anything will ever happen but just sumtin to keep in mind
