How often should transmission fluid be changed in a manual?

I have a 5 speed manual, 2005 Cobalt, with about 39,000 miles on it. Just wondering how often this needs to be changed.

And is it the same fluid that automatic transmissions use? The owner's manual has the same thing listed for both transmissions, I just thought it was a little odd.

It sould be in the owners manual...... it was a 50k mile service in my Mustang.

Some say 50k. I usually do 30-35k just to be safe.

It says change "automatic transaxle fluid" every 50,000 miles, but it doesn't say anything about manual transaxle, so I'm guessing it means the same?

I would probably be more concerned with automatic ***** fluid, I think your good at 50k w/ your 5-speed. Doesnt hurt to change it sooner.

Just get it changed by the time you hit 50k, youll be all good.
