Ok, so I just bought a 30GB iPod off eBay for $125. I have about 40 gig of music, but like most people, only a fraction of that is stuff I want to listen to.

So I started to create playlists. I have 13 playlists at the moment. Like, 70's Music, 80's Music, 90's Music, Alternative Rock, Hip Hop, Motown, etc...

2. hip-hop - mostly independant hip-hop kina like murs, aesop rock, sage francis, atmosphere and such, about 200 songs

3. mainstream oldies pop - about 60 songs...

I have one playlist called electronica, with about 300 songs, mostly house. Other than that I have given up on playlists and have moved on to something called albums, they come on little discs in music stores, I found out that I like that solution much much more.

I have a 40gig 5th Gen with about 15 playlists... Texas Rap, Bass tracks, Cruising, Slow Jams, Upbeat songs, Screwed & Chopped, Old School, Rock, Techno/Trance, Hot Tracks, among others.

I give all the songs that I really like a 5 star rating. Then you can sort or shuffle through those songs on your ipod by rating. When you get tired of a song, take the rating off.
