How many amps for four subs?

My friend and I have been arguing on how many amps I need in my car. I'm going to install 4 Clarion 12" subs in a fiberglass box. The specs for one sub is:

Peak - 1000 watts

Rms - 300 watts

Single voice coil

4ohm

Frequence response - 25 - 1000 hz

Can someone point me in the right direction on how many amps, channels, and power I need? Much appreciated!

Ideally, your sub stage should always be driven off of one amp.

Q1-1200D Amplifier

Four SVC4 subs can wire down to 1 ohm, and 200w a piece is 1200w. That amp is just about the cheapest 1200w amp I would want to buy.

There are plenty of amps that would run that set up. If the amp is 1 ohm stable (Higly recommend) you can use an single amp. I would use at least a 1200w amp Im not gonna say brand thats your choice. I like the Q1-1200 or AQ1200 same amp but you can find some good deals on them. Hifonics is another option budget friendly but does rated. Do not buy a 100 new amp thinking its 1- 1ohm stable 2- doing rated.

Ok but does it need to be a mono block? 2 channel? Or 4 channel?

your best bet would do a Monoblock. Unless you want stereo bass than you either do 2 mono blocks or a 2 channel But Bass is omnidirectional no need to do stereo. So I would go with a Monoblock.

So the amp the guy posted a link to earlier will work? If so that's great cause ill stay in budget! Lol

Yup, that amp should do well for you.

Just wire your subs up like this, and you're good to go.

Haven't bought them yet but these look promising but it sounds like there best in a ported box and not a big fan
What's your problem with ported? Besides the extra space, the only downside is your response curve might suffer a little, but you'll gain a ton of output, especially on lower notes. If it's modeled properly the difference in the response curves might not even be that drastic.

Well my trunk is extremly wide and deep but its very shallow.. So space is limited to a point. But I've ran 2 Rockford fosgate punch hx2's in a sealed box for awhile. They were in a ported box tuned by my local shop but it didn't sound right to me. And I'm also 17 with other 16 n 17 year old friends.. So they love the low notes where everything shakes.. Didn't get that as much with the ported..

Ported will have more authority on the low end compared to sealed in most cases. You must have had the worst box
