How many Amps does an Amplifer need?

Sound redundant i know, but how many amps does an amp need to power it? I know this would be different from model to model but whats the "norm" something like this?

it will not 'need' more than it's fused for.

Generally it will state the amp draw in the manual or look at the fuses on the amp if it has any. So if it has 2 20a fuses it will draw around 40-50a MAX so thats the size of fuse you need to use.. I hope thats what your asking.

im trying to figure out a way to run a car amp from an 120v source, although it looks like it would be more expensive doing that than just buying a home theater amp. I wish i could use the amp from my home receiver's surround outputs because i dont use those, but they wouldnt use the subwoofer input //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I think i could probably use my computer to re route the outputs, im not sure however. If ever hook it up to a TV though it wouldnt work at all.

you can run a car amp in the house....you need a 12v power source or a power inverted

Yes but you need a power supply that gets the proper amount of amps. I was thinking of a car battery charger but the one i saw was 10 amps, not even close to the ~30 amps i need.

Being a computer geek im thinking of buying a mid range computer power supply //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

but add in another 100 for the car amp and its 180 for the "amp", which i can get a good home theater amp for easily.
