how many amps can i turn on using my player's remote?

You can always use a relay to be safe. Remote wire from the head unit to the relay. Relay to the amps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

For two components (two amps, one amp & one EQ, etc), a relay typically isn't needed.

For more than two, it's generally a good idea to use a relay as you are starting to push the envelope of what the REM output is capable of supporting

Depends entirely on the amps. The remote current is usually in the spec sheet... add them up and see what the total is. A Bosch relay will draw 160 milliamps, so you gotta compare that against the amps' combined remote needs. Most new amps draw only 10-15 milliamps remote and you can run a bunch of them without a relay. Some of the "old skool" amps draw over 300 ma each so even one of them is risky.
