How low do most songs hit?

It will be greatly attenuated...the sub will still try to play it, but won't be able to play it anywhere near the proper levels.
Baroque music is the lowest that I know of, dipping into the infrasonic...large pipe organs are capable of playing sustained 16Hz notes, not sure how many people's systems can do that sort of reference level in their homes though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

last year i had a choir concert at a huge theater musical place that had a built in organ, and while the organist was practicing he hit some super low notes you could not hear but **** your eyes watered and you can feel the air moving

When I heard one, I was less than impressed with the SQ.

They got decently loud though...so if you don't care about the sound quality, they might be an option. Otherwise - look elsewhere.

I've got very sensitive ears when it comes to speakers, so I notice when something sounds off. What about it sounded bad?

actually most rap is centered around 40-50 hertz. Although you may get a song that hits in the 30's most stay higher than that.

Anyways; reference CD's such as the IASCA disk and the A2k test disks frequenctly have music which contains very low frequencies, such as organs, etc.

Most music wont play strongly past 40hz, most rap bass is 40-60hz.

I like to find the rap songs that play all bass tones, i've found some that play probably less than 20htz. I have mbquart 12's which are rated down to 18htz. I played a bass mekanik cd which plays each tone from 10htz up, and these subs actually work! , you can hear the 16htz and up pretty well, not really hear but feel too!

Find some Big Tymers songs, they like the low tones, or some techno bass songs, they work well too.

Search for the "bass track" topic in the forums, I got some of those and some of them are pretty good for the crazy bass frequencies.

hmmmm maybe.. but the 1st rap mix CD i made when i got my sub.. like 10/15 of the songs got into the 30s.. you would be surprised how many songs get into the high - mid 30s.
