How hard do you drive your JL audio's

I have my 2 18w3.d2's in my car now in the minimum 3cft enclosures now and man they dont sound too loud with a 44.72 volt DMM read (1000 watt @ 2 ohm) but if I crank it up to about 60 volts MAN do they play.

I am wondering how hard do you JL owners push your subs. Mine being drivin at the 500wrms JL says to just dont cut it for me. So I cranked it up by about 16 volts. How badly am I overdriving them?

Thanks for the info guys

ive ran nothing but JL's in almost every system ive had. they are highly underrated from Jl. the 15w3 i had was rated at 400 rms. i ran it at 1000rms everyday all day. it could have taken more. part of the reason is they are not real efficient subs and will take a lot of power to play loud. but they will take a lot of power. especially the w3's.

for the 15w3 and 18w3 u need atleast 1.2k to really let it do its thing

Ahhhh thanks man. I am running 2 now off of a JBL GTO 1201.1 II amp that sees a 2-3ohm load. Its suppose to do 1200wrms@2ohm. Should I crank up the gain and let em wang like azbass says? I just don't want to kill em because the is the most I've ever spent on a system (about $1000 now and counting) and if they crap out in 6 months I'll be super pissed. BTW they are daily drivers so if that makes any difference...

azbass- If I can crank em up to the max this amp can dish out, they will be the loudest subs Ive ever heard... They really like the 25-60hz range. Any lower or higher they start to distort. I am honestly disappointed in the ranges they hit, but they are 18"s, and they will hit way different than a 12" or 15" (which I was kinda hoping for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif ) They really are not music subs in the fact they don't have the dynamics for it, if you want to play low tones loud, these are for you, not for music IMHO... Ive yet to hook up my mids/highs amp so well see how much that helps and how they perform with that going....

Thanks for the quick responses everyone

I'm putting mine in 1.5 ported. I have about 700 watts to throw at it, so we'll see what happens.

should sound nice, i had 2 ported in 4 cubes tuned to 32 htz, i threw about 600 to each of them.

got them lows realllll nice. they've been my favorite subs ive had so far, decently loud and accurate, just wish they weren't so pricey //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I got 2 10" w3 and they sound really good with the bass turned up to 7+ and the volume to 18 I dont push them that hard or unless if i am showing off.
