How good is a JL Audio 10W7 in a Power Wedge enclosure?

quite possibly the most rediculous thing i've heard today... if thats the case go by ya some lightning audio or some X-plode hell you'd even be good with some duals haha "you can make them just as good as a w7 with the right enclosure" some people just should not have anything to do with posting in a car audio forum
You obviously know absolutely nothing about car audio. Let's all remember that you are the one who put different size subs in the same vehicle. All you do is spout off about how much better JL is than anyone else.

The post you quoted was about SPL performance, not SQ performance. The post was made in response to one of yours claiming that you saw "One 10W7 hit a 150 dB" (something I very much doubt anyway). Even if that claim is true, it has absolutely nothing to do with sound quality.

It is quite obvious that you do not know what you are talking about. You are a noob, and should refrain from attempting to advise others until you learn much much more. So here are your alternatives:

Stop posting for a while, spend a few days actually reading the forums instead of ignoring posts that don't go along with your opinions

OR

End Yourself

yeah well you can leave my system alone untill you've heard it beside that i've heard about everything worth hearing and jl is just my favorite

no shit sherlock! and i wasn't the one who posted that claim, and the discusion WAS about spl, you said 90% of (((SPL))) is the enclosure

noob? are you ****ing 12? yeah i guess you're right! you are the shit and no one knows anything as good as you... yeah so far i've had people tell me that my system sounds like shit... (funny i don't ever recall anyone who HAS HEARD IT saying that) and that i'm gunna get cancellation with 2 size subs... don't even make me show you the tons of ways to easily avoid cancellation...

I actually only entered this thread because cotjones was posting in it. I knew it would get good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/popcorn.gif.32dd9e22fd77e77bc3c907062768fcd2.gif

Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to go with a TC 3000 in a 1.0 cu. ft. box. Thanks again everyone.
Good choice, but make absolutely sure a quad 2 Ohm voice coil sub wired to 0.5 Ohms will not send your amp into protect. I realize Memphis amps are pretty much buletproof but.... can anyone verify if they will take a 0.5 Ohm load long term?

Did you consider the Fi Q 10 Dual 2?

Your own statements contradict each other. Jackass

wow cause i said sound quality... you said that install is 90 percent of the spl i simply posed the thought: if thats the case then go gett a shitty sub and with the right enclosure get just as much volume out of it as a really nice sub... there is no contradiction there... fact is there is no percentage of importance in spl you have to have all good equiptment for a high spl level... yes even the sub... the sub is actually the MOST important factor because a sub does have a maximum output level before it hits mechanical failure... every sub has a maximum spl... no 2 subs in their best enclosures will have the same spl or even close

if you can't see that that was sarcastic i don't know how you've survived this long

it is...

you can buy a DD99z and build a shitty box and get your *** whooped by someone with lightning audio. if the box didnt matter we would all have free air applications

oh yeah of coarse the box matters but its not even close to 90% of the importance of the spl lol but you would have to be pretty retarded or shit faced to make a box that a dd would lose to a LA

best way to think of it is the ideal encloser is part of the sub so when it comes down to it a low end LA in its best box won't even come close to a w7 in its best box probly might hit about 10 percent if that... so it looks like the sub is more like 100% the importance of spl and the box is just nesaccary with all subs

If the sub was the most important part of the setup, then changing the enclosure shouldn't yield much of a result. However, you can dramatically change a subs performance by tweaking your enclosure just a bit. Why do you think there are so many different types of enclosures? There is a reason people say "it's all in the install."

Yeah, I wouldn't risk running a .5 ohm load on that amp. Go with either an Fi Q or an Si Mag with Dual-2 ohm coils.
