How do you guys feel about this deck?

Yeah and that's my concern. I mean... I understand that all higher end decks are going to perform to a certain degree, but I want to find something that's going to PERFORM, ya know?

Right right. I hear ya. It's not really the best in my budget... my budget for a new deck is sort of open depending on what it is.

I was also looking at the MVH-P8200BT and the KDC-X994. Ideally, I want some sweet audio control, good preamps, and would be nice to have bluetooth. Plus it's always nice to have a nice interface and customizable, etc.

What's your budget? There are a lot of other options to consider if the $300 MSRP is the price you're actually working with.

I think this would be your best option. Fully active capable, 4v preouts, fully active capable, time alignment, and did I mention fully active capable? Imo, it's one of the best values out there and the flexibility of the headunit is awesome.

Crutchfield has it for $300, also, but 6ave is an authorized dealer of all their electronics and they are great to work with - no shady business there.

Oops didn't read the rest of the message. On my cell driving now. So fully active capable I think you mentioned... What is that exactly? Forgive the dumb questions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Basically it means fully adjustable crossovers that allow you to build your system using the drivers of your choice. You can use raw drivers from all sorts of manufacturers and mix and match and not be limited by the passive crossovers that come with component sets. You basically have the freedom to choose any speakers for your car until you find what you're looking for while getting the most out of them.

Time alignment is basically where you delay certain speakers so the sound gets to you, the driver, at the same time from each speaker.

There's a lot to read about going active, so I'd suggest you hop on a computer to read up if you're serious about getting a headunit with "sweet audio control."

Again, that's some good information right there. Haha. Yeah I've looked at that deck too so it's already been on my "review list". Just always nice to get opinions from those that know what they're doing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What is the next recomendation upwards in terms of price for function? If that cda-9887 is 229, what if I want to spend right around 300? Another brand, or another model?

Yeah it seems to be pretty solid overall.

At first, my goal was to get a double din with DVD and navigation... but with a 350z, there's not much room to kick back and watch movies anyway. So I decided I'm going to focus more SQ than show and bells and whistles.

I'm debating between the CDA-9887, DEH-P880PRS, and the KDC-X994.
