No you don't need 2-1000 watt amps. The subs are rated for 300 wRMS, the rms figure is the only number you need to worry about. Some people send more than the rated RMS, some less. It depends, just remember if you go over the subs recommended limit, you have a greater chance of blowing you woofer. I've already explained to my brother how easily it will be to blow these subs with the power that will be sent to them. As long as you know your equipments limits and don't try to exceed what it's capable of, you will be fine. I've got the enclosure most of the way done, I still need to cut one last side, then draw my sub diameter and cut it out. Then carpet the SOB, throw it in the truck and boom.

Just get about a 700 watt total amp.

I have one R in a 1 cu. ft. sealed box with 300watts on it and it sounds great, true, it doesn't have massive amounts of SPL but it has some.

Just buy an amp that will give each sub about 300-400 watts each (600-800 total)

my friend is running 2 type-R's in a sealed box w/ 800 watts +++++ going to each. And they blow like a french w h o r e. DO NOT power the subs that high. He does get a lot of SPL but, they are not reliable, and play bass like shit. stick with some lower power, or just buy diff. subs if you want serious SPL

I'm not the kind of guy that likes to rattle everybodys windows out of the car. I just want good sound quality and I want to be able to control the bass volume, just in case some kid pulls up and has 8s or 10s in his pos vehicle I want to be able to blow his shit away.

My 1 Type R in the box can blast POS systems easily, so 2 R's will work. Just buy something like a JBL 600.1 $205 from http://www.ikesound.com and it has 2 sets of inputs for both subs even though it is a "mono" amp. Just wire that up and plug it in!
