So.. to start off, I have a 2000 Cavalier Sedan with the basic stereo system.
I recently purchased all of the necessities to install a decent system into my car.
I started working on it today and things went far from well, first off I bought Boston Acoustic S59 6x9"s for the rear deck. They didn't fit in the stock speaker adapter.
I'm going to have to mount them from the bottom, which isn't that big of a deal.
My question is, is the basic speaker bracket included enough of sealing?
..My next question is, I have an Eclipse CD5000 on the way, right now the stock stereo system is in the car.
After wiring one of the 6x9"s to the stock head unit and hearing it sound like absolute **** due to lack of power, I disconnected it. I then reconnected a the stock speaker; at this time.. I saw a little static shock.. (I forgot to disconnect the battery, GOOD JOB ME). Upon turning my radio on, I have no sound.. in any speakers. The radio powers on and the clock reads, but there's absolutely no sound at all.
Any ideas how to fix this? Is this going to be a problem when my Eclipse CD5000 arrives?
Any other solutions to mounting the 6x9s in the rear deck, other than drilling the holes from a speaker outline?
