Help with wiring Big 3

ok so my hifonics amp will be here the 19th. This weekend i wanted to do the big 3 wiring. im not sure exactly how to do this ive just heard about it before. im thinkin it would be a good idea before i hook up my 2,000 watt hifonics. could some one explain this step by step if possible or send me a link? also should i use 1/0 gauge wire?

1/0 awg would be fine if you have enough laying around, otherwise, its a bit overkill for what your setting up, 2 awg would be the more cost effective route, what your looking at doing is upgrading the positive line from alt to battery(leaving the stock in there is fine, the more the better) upgrading the grounds from the engine block to the frame, and upgrading the grounds from the battery to the frame.

Although a smaller wire might be more cost effective now, spend a little extra $$$ and do it in 1/0. That way, if/when you decide to upgrade equipment there is no need to go throught the entire Big 3 process again. My .02

i don't see why you'd need anything larger than 2 awg honestly, because if your running that big of a system, you need a second battery back there, its not like the alt to battery run is gonna be 20 feet long, and stock is already 4 awg in most vehicles, least it is in mine anyhow, but i plan on running a 2 awg upgrade right alongside the stock....
