help with setup

I have a Pioneer DEH-P730 HU, Upgraded front speakers to sony's 60W max, stock rear deck, Eclipse 3640 4/3/2 ch amp. Two Sony XS-1200B subwoofers w/ Box. Traded a pair of old Gotti necklace for the system. My question is would I need another amp to power the subs? Total noob at this. Have googled, and searched here for Two amps, 4/3/2 amp and such... If possible can I run all the speaker off that one amp? if not - fine two amps okay, but How do i send separate signals from the four interior speakers from the subs. HU has 4 preamp outputs. Am I missing something here. I wish I had a block diagram of this for the bigger pic. Thanks.

Subs=junk.

Keep amp and HU, get a separate amp for different subs, (yes you should get rid of them) and give us links to all of your stuff.

well no one really answered your question. Yes the subs are not the greatest but if that all you have to work with then so be it. You say the amp is 4/3/2 so in theory you can using 2 channels for the spks and 1 channel for the subs using 3 channels but you would be putting high frequency (music) through your subs and they wont pound nearly as hard as they would if you ran an amp designed for your subs. A smaller mono amp (class-d) would run your subs fine. GO on the classifed thread on here or fo on ebay and look for an amp and if you can get one within your price range, go for it! You will be much happier adding another amp to your set-up.

Now I just finished putting the "system" together and heard it for the first time. Okay, but it's better that listening to AM stations. You can only so much of old people dogging each other. Now my HU manual says that I can use either Line Level or RCA for sub connection. Not looking to shatter my neighbors ears or anything just enough to hear lyrics to songs.

I have rear Line Level to my rear 6 X 9. Front RCA from HU connected to Amp powering upgraded 6 1/2.

Sub in trunk not connected, but using it to hold amp on. Can I use the rear RCA output from HU to connect to amp to power the subs? Eventually subs will be replaced so if I blow them no loss. I can adjust the HU and amp to filter out highs. I know that the subs will not be at full potential, but I can worry about that later. The manual was not clear on this subject my guess is that it's a no!

Oh by the way I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX V6 coupe. Thanks!

IF you run them off the rear output off the deck, you will have no control over the subs except for fade? You will still have the gain on the amp but its still not right. I guess for now it will work but still not really proper.

My HU has controls to control wheter or not to activate the subs. If active would any highs be sent to the subs since I do not have an active crossover? I know that my amp has a crossover but is it the same?

Your HU has a subwoofer preout. If pioneer hasn't changed its tricks much, and the RCA's are attached to the HU through a harness, then the SW output is the longest couple of RCA's.

The Hu has an internal LPF (low pass filter), meaning that it will only send low notes (you should be able to set the frequencies through HU settings) to your woofers.

The only RCA's that I see are two Rear and two Front preamp outputs. I have connected my Subs to Rear output to via Amp. I had a problem with audio, but I repaired the fault and now both are working now. I have yet to tune the Low filter gain to perform to my needs. When I did this my car did not start this morning I eventually jump started my vehicle and drove around to hopefully charge the battery. It started again with alot of praying and smooth talking and now I just have to put it back together. I hope everything still workswhen I start it up!

I found out that it was a short between the remote and ground. I do not know how a piece of metal shaving shorted around the plastic guards! I removed it and not thing is broke yet! Stereo sounds fine when playing. When I select 4ch only one of the 12" woofer is working.

When I select 3ch both are moving same as 2 ch. I have read the helpful sites FAQ on basic car audio, but it does not answer any question on 3Ch configuration. Why is that?
