OK I have a 2007 toyota yaris with a jenson tmv9311 dvd player. I have a class a/b 6 channel jl audio amp hooked up to all 4 speakers and a jl audio sub. Here is my problem. When i am listening to music it will cut off every once in awhile. at first it would be seldom and i thought maybe the cd was skipping but it does it also with my IPOD using the AUX. At first it would come back on in a few seconds but now it seems to d it more often and stay off longer. Everything will still be playing but the sound goes away and the light on the amp goes off. Does anybody have any solutions. Is it the amp or head unit. Anything will help it is driving me crazy.

this is how it is set up : front speakers are going into channels 1 and 2, rear speakers are going into channel 3 and 4. channels 5and 6 are bridged into 1 jl 10 in. sub. the amp is a jl audio 6450. Any recommendations on how this should be wired? What could be causing sound to go away. Should I just get a new HU?

I think I may have found the problem. I gave the power wire a little tug and it came right out of the amp. Ok do I need to disconect the cars battery to reconect it?

OK I secured the power wire by putting in back in and tightening the screw that holds it down. Today started car and no sound again. power wire still hooked up finally comes on after about 10 minutes. stop somewhere get back in car and no sound again. I believe it is an 8 awg wire. It is a JL audio A6450 amp. I have power to stereo just power to amp goes off. protection light not on either. What can this be it is driving me crazy. I dont know where it was installed at because it was already in car when i bought it.

here is the rating

Amplifier Topology: Class A/B with patented Absolute

Symmetry™ dual N-Channel MOSFET output design

Power Supply: Unregulated MOSFET switching type

Rated Power at 12.5 V (Stereo, all channels driven):

45W RMS x 6 @ 4 ohms, 75W RMS x 6 @ 2 ohms

Rated Power at 12.5 V (Bridged, all channels driven):

90W RMS x 3 @ 8 ohms, 150W RMS x 3 @ 4 ohms

THD at Rated Power:

Signal to Noise Ratio: >104 dB referred to rated power

(A-weighted, 20 Hz-20 kHz noise bandwidth)

Frequency Response: 10 Hz - 25 kHz (+0, -1dB)

Damping Factor: >200 @ 4 ohms per ch./50 Hz,

>100 @ 2 ohm per ch. /50 Hz

Slew Rate: ± 22V/μs

Power output at 14.4V supply voltage and 1% THD:

70W RMS x 6 @ 4 ohms (14.4V, 1% THD)

110W RMS x 6 @ 2 ohms (14.4V, 1% THD)

Rated Power (Bridged):

140W RMS x 3 @ 8 ohms (14.4V, 1% THD)

220W RMS x 3 @ 4 ohms (14.4V, 1%

I would swap out the fuse under the hood, maybe that is corroded or just has a messed up connection. Also I'd try unhooking the remote wire and then jumping the power wire to the remote input on the amp and seeing if the amp comes on instantly. If it does maybe your remote wire is jank or the signal coming from the deck is too weak or jank altogether.

does the amp get hot?? u could be trying to push it to far. i would say its something about ur amp going into protect over anything. check and see if it gets hot and also add up the ohms an make sure ur not droping below 2 ohms.( amp will go into protect because its not stable down that low)
