Help with new 6x9's!!

Sounds like u have something setup wrong....
Well, my uncle helped to hook it all up as he and friends used to hook up each others systems back in their high school and college days. I always had him assist in my setup since it was free and he always did a good job with the setup itself, as well as, hiding the wires very well and even keeping the ones in the trunk neat with plastic ties. For some reason, its a crappy job he did this time as Im not sure how he has it hooked up. I told him about the burning smell and he said he didnt know what it could be but to turn it down. I turn my head unit down and the back one blew anyway. He then tells me he meant the amp, but that doesn't matter since I'm now without working 6x9's.

Thank you Prince. I'll be sure to do that as I'll need to adjust all of the sound levels and maybe hook it up a different way or even change to better wires so I can get the full use of the audiobahn 12's and the 2800 watt amp too.

Mehhh just get rid of those lol
Haha I'd like to. They sounded excellent when I very first got them. I couldn't manage to turn the volume past 10 without having a headache and I almost never get them. My head countinued thumping the rest of the first night until I finally fell asleep. I was wanting some kicker l7 or solo x 12's but thought they may be too much.

To be clear, they're still great just not as loud as I remember.

Take the part I put in bold, and add in that "they blew out your back window 3 times and Steve Meade approved it, and put it all into a Craigslist ad and sell them and get something better lol

Ha I should try that out. Not sure how much they'd realistically go for on Craiglist in southern tennesee. Rednecks tend to think sony xplodes are the way to go. I'd like to sell the subs and keep the amp unless there is one better than the amp I already have for a decent price.

My guess is there are plenty out there better especially if u go used.

If I were you I'd list your subs and amps for sale on craigslist. If someone is interested, they can check them out in your car. Take that money and hit up the classifieds section here. There's plenty of subs that will put those L7s & W7s to shame while having a lower price tag. Keep reading the forums and you'll see.

I recently put a pair of these in my rear deck:
Boston Acoustics SE953 280 Watts 6x9" 3-Way Coaxial Car Speakers 6" x 9" 0690283478919 | eBay

Very impressed, just on HU power for rear fill. Clean and loud with great midbass. If I could fit a pair in my front doors I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Boston's seem to be the general consensus. I'm sure these will be much better than my Pioneer's considering I bought them at Wal Mart; however, they did sound pretty good when they were still around.

Is there any particular subs and/or amp combo that you'd recommend? Or even a good price to ask for on my current subs and amp? They're both in great condition and the only problem is their age, but I haven't pushed them too hard over the years.
