help with box

okay i got all the dimensions i need for the two type r's 12" from the manual....18x13.5x16.5 and it will be 1.7 cu.ft. per sub and it says for the vent to be 12x1.5 but i dont know what that means.. would it be 12 deep and 1.5 across and whatever the height is?? or what... and how do i know what it is tuned at? also since i have two should i make a common chamber or divided and if so how would i do that??

if your doing a ported box, you don't need to divide the box in two. the 12 x 1.5 is the heigth (12") and width (1.5") of the port's opening. this is the area (the area of the opening) of the port. if your doing two subs that share a common chamber (no divider in box) then double the port area. so make the port 12" x 3" wide. the tuning is what ever you want it to be. the tuning freq. will determine the length of the port. if you need help with finding out how long the port should be, let me know.

so then i would assume i would just double the entire box size (around 4 cu. ft.) and adjusting the dimensions wouldn't matter? and if you could please help finding the port length i would want it tuned to 28-32hz around there. ill try to figure it out to.. thanks the help so far

i recomend tuning to 32 or 33.

is 4 cubes a good size for the two of them... or should i go bigger or smaller?

i'd probably do about 3.5 - 3.75 at 32Hz......but thats just me.
