Definately use a slot port, it will help with bracing, double layer whatever you can, and add a couple 2x4's if needed.

just cut some little pieces of MDF to fit into the corners and glue/screw them in

you will need to take into account the displacement of everything that you put inside the box when calculating net volume

i got an 9.5cf box with 2 kicker L7 15's in it and i used 2x2 (which actually are only 1.5x1.5 after milling) and routered the edges so that they are nice and round.

all the corners in my box have the 2x2's in them then to make it builit proof i went ahead and fiberglassed everything, i used fiberglass matting on all the 2x2's and then to smooth it out i used the rest of the resin to coat the box.

the fiberglass will make that box rock solid, and you MIGHT even gain a little on the DB side
