Help with box problem

Here is my current setup (I know it's pretty ****, but I got it nearly free and as a teen you can't complain)

Single Sub - Pioneer TSW261D4 10-Inch Champion/DUAL4 OHM/1200W/40 Equalizer

Amp - Sony XM-N502 (Xplod 500 Watt)

Here is the problem, ever since I blew the last subwoofer which was a Lightning audio sub, I have been getting some sound like it's hitting the wood inside the box but this subwoofers height is smaller so it's not hitting the box. I have it wired like this: Subwoofer wiring diagrams Which is how the people in at sound source told me to. When I plug the port on the box it sort of blocks out the hitting sound. And also it only sounds terrible at a the higher sounding part of songs.

First of all that amplifier is severely under powered for that woofer. Even if you wire that woofer in parallel you're only getting it down to 85w, and that woofer is rated for 350w RMS. Which is probably why it sounds so bad. Get a better amp and try again.

I tried to stay in your price range, found this with a quick look, Sound Ordnance™ M-1500 Mono subwoofer amplifier — 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

If you're only powering a sub all you need is a monoblock. This one will give you enough power, 300 watts @ 4 ohm. Of course you can do better.

This amp will do 800 at 4ohm bridged... Way better then that one posted above^

If it can't just turn the gain down. It's better to have extra power then not enough
