help with a box for 15" Stroker SVC

I now have a 15" cerwin vega stroker and i want to fit it into the trunk of a honda civic coupe. The specs on the speaker call for a ported box, and the enclosure measurements made by cerwin vega says it requires 4.7 cubic feet (smallest they had). I was planning on building my own box. The boxes on the vega site shows a port directly below where the speaker sits in a box, but i dont think my trunk is tall enough to put the port below the speaker. Would it sound bad or different if i were to make the box have ports on the sides instead of directly below the speaker... here is what i had in mind..

Would this work, im sure i could fit this in my trunk, but would it make the sub sound like shit if the ports were coming from the side on diagonal parts of the enclosure... i appreciate any input as it is very hard to find enclosures that work with this artifact of a speaker

that didnt come out like it did when i typed it, oh well i guess u cant see the example. i found a box for the subs that is 34" 16" tall and 20" deep, this would fit in my car leaving about 6-8 inches of trunk space... will this damage the speaker?

it wont damage the speaker, for say, with that box you are getting about 3.4 cu ft. and if the sub calls for 4.7 cu ft you will not feel the full potential of the sub, this usually means loss of spl and your amp will have to work harder to move the sub in a smaller enclosure. also dont forget your port length, CV gives you a recommended port dia. and length to achive proper box tuning, you need a space behind the port at least the diamater of the port. in my opinion you would be better off building the box yourself. just fill up the trunk, with a stroker, you wont even care after its in.
