Help T40001bd problem

When I turned the amp on there was no smoke but my room-mate said he smelled something but wasnt sure what. Well I have a freshly painted box in the car so he said it might just be that, what would a burnt amp smell like. I tired smelling through the holes in the top plate but I couldnt smell anything.
