Help On Sub Wiring

you will have to wire each sub to it's own channel.

wire the subs as n2 showed, and then wire each sub to its own channel on the amp.

then each channel will have 2ohm load and should put out 500 rated rms

Yeah, I thought you had the vibe1200d

that is a 2 channel d class amp.
bridged it can only handle down to 2ohm
It's a 2 channel class a/b. Like most a/b's it's stable at 2 ohms stereo, 4 ohms bridged.

The 248 isn't going to give a pair of CVR's much power. It has a pair of 15A fuses so you're looking at 150-200w rms per sub.

do this:

or this (bridging the amp):

The 2nd option is slightly preferable, but power is the same. Either way will work.

LOL at the homeboy wiring. This isnt series or parallel, what is it? Guess hes saving the other voice coil incase he blows that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

But seriously man, that amp is 2 ohm stable. Wire both the coils in parralel from each sub to its own channel. AKA take all the positives and negatives, wire them together, then wire each sub to 1 channel.

I wired it last night how n2 posted, and i have each sub to its own channel. And the subs bumped for aobut 20 seconds, but then i put on "beats for my van" and the amp shut off. The fuses arent blown, and the in line fuse isnt blown. This has hapened twice now.....I do have 30amp fuses in it currently. My friend i bought it from put those in.

Its set good. everything at half. I have gain, bass, hpf, and lpf all at half. My old Ultraliener did this too. Except that one straight blew. Circut city is going out of business. Should I sell ym amp and go get a nice kicker amp there?

if you have had this issue before, then I think there is something else wrong. but from the info we know, I don't know what.

can you get some pics of your amp/wiring?

and what voltage inputs are you running to the amp?

For one thing, the specs on that amp call for 2x15A fuses. Running 30's may have allowed internal damage, but if that were the case I wouldn't expect it to run at all.

I would say it sounds like thermal protection, but typically takes a few minutes. My old Vibe 430 running all 4 channels at minimum impedance would turn off after playing loud for a half hour or so. How long after you put this bass CD in (I assume) did it shut down?

Does the amp feel hot when it turns off?

How long until it comes back on? Or does it come back on?

Flip the "Freq." switch to low, bass boost off, LPF to about 9:00 (hpf isn't active). Halfway on the level (gain) is probably ok with a cheaper (2-4v) head unit.

That is where the settings should be, but I wouldn't expect those adjustments to keep the amp from shutting down.

Do you have a voltage meter? It might be helpful to measure the voltage at the amp and see if there's a voltage drop when it turns off.

Im about to give up on subs alltogether. This is frustrating...=[

The amp hasent came back on yet. I will post pics tonight.

And it dosent feel hot or anything.

Its jsut like my remote wire came undone. It jsut shuts off.

To answer your question, I have my iPod to the radio, and it was just on shuffle and that came up and it played for a few seconds. The amp dosent come back on. My cousin has a pyramid 800 w running 1 12 in CVR and he has no problems. The power wire i have is copper welding wire. its threaded and all. Do you think i jsut need to get a 1200 watt wiring kit?

This is the deck I have ----> http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8696379&type=product&id=1198888712935

So Im beginning to wonder if its all my wiring. I have an in-line fuse for 4g wire, and then the wire i got from my dad. Its threaded 4g welding wire. Im thinking i need to get a good wiring kit....=/

if your welding wire is thick enough it will work fine.

That amp doesn't really need more than 10 ga, 8 ga would defintely cover it. With 4 ga you could run 3, maybe 4 of those amps w/o stressing the wire. Your ground is 4 ga as well, right? Or at least 8?

Seems to me you just have a POS amp doing what POS amps do.

Yeah it was both the amp and the subs. The subs werent working because of thier voice coils, because i had them bridged. The amp was a POS. I traded it last night for a Legacy 250W amp from the 80's-90's. I dont know much about amps, but as soon as a friend saw that, he offered a 15in CVR for it. lol. So my Ultraliener that i had them hooked to.....it just blows fuses. That means that its most likely the subs, right? Im thinking aof trying to hook that up tonight. I went to where i bought the CVR's and luckily they were still under warranty, so I got new ones. So Legacy amps....any good??
