These Subs definitely lived up to their hype.
I just installed a pair of 12" RE SE's in my car over the weekend in a 4.4 cu ft. box (4.16 cu ft. after displacement) @ 32 Hz and WOW.
I'm not very experienced with subwoofers yet, my first sub woofer was a 12" Type-R in a sealed box (yes I know, sealed FTL). I then went the complete opposite way with my next subwoofer and got a 13w6v2, tried it in a sealed and ported box but I still wasn't happy. I know, I'm comparing 2 12's to 1 12, and 1 13, but these things kick ***.
The sound quality is on par with my 13w6v2, I thought I was going to lose so much SQ and be unhappy with the outcome, but Wow, I notice virtually no difference yet.
SPL wise, these subs kick the hell out of my single Alpine Type-R and 13w6v2 ported. This is the first time I've actually felt the bass in my chest. Never had that before.
These things drop lower then my 13w6v2 with much more authority, so far I haven't had a song that I just don't want to play because it sounds bad on a certain subwoofer, these things play it all.
I spent about 360$ on my 13w6v2.
On the PAIR of RE SE's, I spent 209$ after shipping.
Oh and did I mention that I'm only giving 250 watts to each subwoofer?
Unfortunately my amplifier isn't 1 ohm stable, so I have them wired to 4 ohms, and my amp is putting out 500 watts total. I cannot wait to give these babies more power, they are hardly moving at all.
As everyone says, the RE SE's are the best bang for your buck, they are a perfect combination of SQ and SPL and they definitely lived up to the hype. Unfortunately I don't have as much experience as most of you, I'm only giving them 250 watts each, and I am comparing the pair to a single type r sealed or a single 13w6v2 sealed/ported. But this comparison is better then nothing IMO.
