Sorry I didn't get to explain further, but wanted everyone to know that the problem is now solved.
OK, so when the problem started, I'm assuming it occurred because of the new battery/new alt and the wiring couldn't handle the voltage. Went back and checked the wiring that I pulled out when I put in the 0/1awg and found a tiny area where possibly the wire was nicked and it had melted. It was actually rather difficult to see, but definitely there. So, there never was a problem with the battery or alternator...........just a short in the power wire.
Now, onto the Kicker amp that started smoking after the power wire change. I'm not sure if that wasn't a problem with the amp itself. I haven't changed anything since that amp went up in smoke and all of the other amps are working just fine.
I took the Kicker amp apart and there is actually just one MOSFET that has some blackening area around it. It really doens't look that bad at all. However, when I hooked it back up just to see if it would work, I got the Protection Light and nothing else.
So, thats where I'm at. Glad to have gotten past those problems. Now, you'll see me asking a bunch of questions about mid-bass and 3-way components, as well as which brand of subwoofer provides the best mix of SQ and moderate SPL, should I so desire to let loose a little boom now and again.
Thanks for all of your help, guys.
Have a good one!
