Help modifying a dd9512 box design

Lol. Can't remember how much space is needed between the subwoofer and a hard surface. but even if i top mount the sub i dont believe i would have enough space. I will have to do some more measuring to be sure. Main thing is that i want to get the box under the rear deck to have clean look and space. If not the 10 works for me as well.
So long as the surround isn't rubbing you won't get in trouble mounting a sub too close to something. Port however, should be minimum 1 port width away from anything if you want it to behave as predicted.

You wouldnt want it firing up... down fire would be ok .. but it would need room to move so I doubt you have room for that ... two 10s would be good but take 3cu ft plus port so a out 3.5 total ..that's a big box
If firing up is not good for my space then i will have to work hard at getting my measurements right. Right now im looking at a 13.5 high box and just make up the rest with width. And thats just for 12. Would i notice a difference if i ran a 10. Mind you this is for just my weekend muscle

I don't see why sub up would be any difference. Apart from having to buy the 10" frame you sacrifice some output and mechanical power handling going down to 10" sub so there's that. Otherwise all things equal and both within their mechanical limit expect 1.4dB or so difference (about 1 click on a 1 to 35 voume knob).

So when you say mechanical power handling you mean the sub should be turned down. Im not sure how these subs handle a m3 daily. I did it b4 but the sub was used on a stock head unit and it didnt last long lol

Not many single subs will last long VS that M3. Those make closer to 4KW on good electrical. You would absolutely be able to destroy 95XX if you're not very conservative with the volume knob.

Dang. Thats what if afraid of. I would prefer to split the damage if i could get 2 subs without going broke.

I'm thinking for daily it actually may be better to run that amp 2 ohm around 2000 rms ... it should still do everything It needs and if more is needed add s 2nd sub then...

This thread... Idk or pretend to know the Op's goals but it seems to be "make it fit"... lol

Maxx space is what 40w x 13h x 20d?... omg

A single 9512... fine. 13.5" od and 9.75" depth... I'd let the frame hang .25" top and bottom while being sized/ported for your power if it was me, unless you find another .5" in height somewhere... idk... it's your car. (I can't measure it).
12.1875" mounting cutout even... doable as hell

Why turn it into a debate Imo... it's doable... and will probably make you think tour trunk is coming off... lol

Unless I missed something or am wrong this'll fit and do great on your power...

I mean... comon' a m3 would be slammin a 9512 @ 1 ohm but not killing it imo.
14-16in2 of port in 2.5-2,75in2 of net volume ought to do it for a SINGLE 9512.

That's roughed in with Torres only. If I had to design something I'd take the time to model it for sure... then draw it up.

The issue is that im not that rounded on box designs or tuning. My last box i built for a dd sub was to dd specs. What i was concerned about they can im looking at now the trunk is very tight where i want to put the box. I might can gain a 1/2 inch if i remove the torsion bars for the trunk. And the m3 thinking is about reliability. I wouldnt want to build a sub to have it blow in less then a year due to over powering it. I know the 9500 can take some power but what about daily thats another story. Most peole including myself will push their system to its limits so saying keep the volume down wont work.

And thanks for the draw up. It will help for sure. Is Torres a program i can download

Great that you are trying to diy the thing... it's not a draw up. Its Torres... not an app but a program and I use it to rough in size only.
This is a design... modeled in 2 programs BEFORE being drawn up in Sketchup. Its accounts for Cabin, tuning, volume/power and is as accurate as I can do. (not very... lol)

Its 9 pages with cutsheets.. If I might suggest getting together with a designer since you appear to really need help to me. I wanna sell the next guys subs as much as the next guy but a 9512 @ 1 ohm on a m3 sounds like something I'd run myself... so understand your equipment and settings... you can be a "user" or someone who knows their system and its limits
Anyone can clip a capable sub to death or wang away under tuning... just saying

Ok. Well i have always wanted to get something designed and custom for my needs. Since will have to get the sub built i would like to build around it rather then settle. Only reason im stuck with the tight space cuz wife said i need a trunk for the baby stoller lol. So with that i will give the trunk a finished look and tuck the sub box. I will pm you when im ready. And ill take a few more pics of what im working with.

I was referring to any designer or shop you might choose. Oakland is your current locale?
Maybe start cruising by a few local legit shops to see what they think about your height/torsion bar issue?..

I can try to help. But actually pulling measurements and designing something is the way to go for best results.

Nor Cal?.. I think someone around there could nail this one... easy
