Help me pick an active setup

Right now I've got some Pioneer REV's installed, and PG RSD's sitting on my desk. Forum boner city, I know. I am planning on picking up a JBL 75.4 to run active with. It does 100 watts x 4 channels.

Now, I want to run a NICE two way active setup that I will (hopefully) not have to replace for quite a while. I want to run an 8" and a tweeter. I guess I can settle for nice 6.5"s and a tweet but I figure if I can fit 8"s, why not?

Now I was thinking maybe I should run the tweet from the RSD and find a nice 8" woofer to pair with it. Or I can just sell the RSDs and REVS and buy new tweets and 8"s.

I am not quite sure how much the budget is, but I dont want to spend more then $250 if possible.

$130 shipped...I never used it

If you get 8s you need to get midrange speakers (3way)...tweeters wont play low enough for the 8s

I like the Mach5 MLI-65 Mids and Seas Neo tweeters for DIY

...you can also look at the PG RSDs and Pioneer TS-D1720C

Dayton also builds good DIY speakers

I'd also take a look at the ID OEM's that username: hessdawg is selling. They seem to play very well in the upper mid-range whereas the Mach's may not be as proficient. I don't think either is a bad choice paired up with the much regarded Seas Neo's.

Above all do a good bit of research before you dive in. Tuning an active set up can be a very involved and time consuming route to take. Not necessarily too difficult, but it will require dedication from your end.

Believe it or not, I just picked up a JBL 75.4II for $115. Will this be all I need to run active, or will another processor be needed? I am running a stock HU, which I plan to wire up to the High Level Inputs on the JBL.

Right now, I've got my eyes set on the ID OEM's and Seas Neo Tweet.

even if you run into issues as far as how high the 8" could play, wouldnt a set of horns like the image dynamics play low enough to accomodate the 8?

I considered horns as well, but they seem to be a whole 'nother ball game when it comes to setting up and tuning. Perhaps these would be something to read up on more and find one that fits my install.

But then again theres always the "where to mount them" issue. Not a heck of a lot of legroom as it is.
