hello everyone! i am new to the forum along with car audio installation! so i am putting a set up together an it looks like the folllowing..

dash - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BLVEV8S/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I6HGB9IPN4LY4&colid=43EW5Q8KTG0N&psc=0

front and rear door - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M7MVBJO/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IQ6IK6PKZAB57&colid=43EW5Q8KTG0N&psc=0

sub - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY6O4Z6/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3IKZAEP8K6EBT&colid=43EW5Q8KTG0N&psc=0

i have a few other subs in mind that are a little cheaper but about the same RMS.

amp ???

my question is, what kind of amp would i need for this entire set up? minimum watt? would it be cheaper to use one amp for all speakers, separate ones for the speaker and sub?

i have also considered getting a "powered" rockford fosgate 12" sub at 300 rms (?) how would this work with my set up ?

please let me know what you think and if you can be as detailed as possibly that would be great because i have no clue what im doing lol. im on a budget also. my car is a 2014 dodge dart SXT with a uconnect 8.4 radio which i would prefer to not remove for my audio. thank you!!

don't get powered sub and don't get those comps.. i know they look like a deal with box and all but they just really easy to blow.. look at ebay u see 5000 refurb kickers.. are u gonna use factory radio? if u have after market hu does it have xovers for speakers?, do u want amp to power speakers and subs or 2 amps or just 1 amp for sub/s?

there are 100 sub options but u would be better off with 1 decent 2.5" coil sub in a decent ported box with like 6-800rms (real power, we go by amp test not what companies say the amp does) this is best sub for cheap many others even sundown for under $200 u would need box too though check this out pretty loud for 1 sub https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Pioneer-TS-W3003D4-600W-12-Champion-Pro-Series-Dual-4-ohm-Subwoofer/322482808278?epid=217349612&hash=item4b157925d6:g:s7sAAOSw03lY5--X this is what 1 12" 3003 did to my mirror on 900rms ported

Ok.. here's the deal with those door speakers: being 4ohm, they need amplification. You will be disapointed if straight from stereo. If you want stereo to speaker, try jbl club speakers. They run 3ohm, fine for stereo or amplifier..

Forget dash speakers, the ones you have now are just spliced in with front door and sharing amps anyway. They are there so the dealership can say "it's got 6 speakers!!".

If you are planning to amplify everything:

get component 6.5 speakers for front for mids and highs

6x9 in rear for mid bass and fill for passengers.

1 or 2 subs is going to be an influence on the amp you buy.

Buy a 5 channel amp. All have crossovers in them now a days..

Best thing to do is study up on how Ohms works, and RMS. Ignore peak ratings

Don't get a powered sub and don't get those comps. Both IMO poor decisions for the money. Many companies have budget offerings that are great. Please give the Alphard Audio Machete M series a look Alphard Audio Machete Machete M12 D2/D4 12" Subwoofer - gp car audio , and the Soundqubed HDS200 series HDS2.112 SoundQubed 12" Subwoofer - gp car audio . The Alphard is IMO the better woofer. But they are both great budget options.

heck yeah those alphards be massive improvement over comps.. sq be lots louder maybe not very deep but u wouldn't get deep with a 45hz tuned kicker box either.. even 1 of either of those subs with like 600rms probably be louder/deeper than comp box

Gramps you wanna buy my Hannibal? :p they actually got discontinued and rebadged as machete so that adds value right? 600 bucks? ;P

Agreed with this here. Since you have the unit pulled out of the car/dash...test it at your car battery directly for operation. very simple to do...

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M
