Help me get my DD 1508 loud.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try more port and give it some time to break in. Want to get this loud so I dont have to go back to that big ol 18 in my cab. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have a little update. Increased the port to 4" pvc. (working on a homemade flare) Also ran it on low power for a little bit to help break it in. Still has a lot of mechanical noise but I read that will go away after break in. But I'm impressed! This thing gets down for a little 8" sub! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Cant wait til it breaks in. plan on throwing some more power to it. (700+ watts) I hear it will take it. Thanks for the advice guys.

What's your new box specs? How long is your port?

Same box as before, 1 cube. External port is ~18 inches irc. Been messing around with flaring 4" pvc with pretty good results. After I perfect my procedure I'll have a 4" port flared to about a 6" opening. I'll see how it works out in a week or 2. Still waiting for this little sucker to break in though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I thought about getting another but I love the look I get when people ask "what ya got in there" and I shrug and say "ah just a 8" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I usually get a chuckle until I let em hear it. Then they shut up quick. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Still wouldnt hurt to have more port area.
Correct me if I'm wrong, as I do L ports rather than aeros and don't have much experience with them, but 1-4" aero for 1 cube should be perfect.. 4inch is a little over 12 sq inches of port.. next up (5 inch aero) is almost 20 sq inches of port which is a little much for one cube

agreed

Two 3" ports would give him 14 sq in of area. Or he could build a new box with a slot port and 16 sq in of area. Or he could keep what he has because all that matters is that he likes it.

True, I was thinking since he is using an 8" sub and external ports that space is an issue. If he used two 3" ports they would have to each be longer than the single 4" as well which would take up more room. From my experience 2sq inches of port area doesn't make much of a difference for a daily driver lol, as long as you're in that 12-16 per cube you're usually good.
