Help me get my DD 1508 loud.

True, I was thinking since he is using an 8" sub and external ports that space is an issue. If he used two 3" ports they would have to each be longer than the single 4" as well which would take up more room. From my experience 2sq inches of port area doesn't make much of a difference for a daily driver lol, as long as you're in that 12-16 per cube you're usually good.
Yeah I dont know how much space he has, all I know is that DD subs like 16 inches of port area per cube. He will be fine with a 4 inch port, I was just letting him know if he ever decided to build another box or anything.

Well I'm not too familiar with DD so I'll take your word for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Just putting it out there that the port area he has now should be good..and much better than the 7 sq inches he had to begin with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

no doubt about that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

get more power they shine with about 1200each.
Once again, not familiar with the product, but 1200 watts for an 8" sub in this particular setup seems a bit extreme, especially when the sub is rated at 500 watts rms. Maybe if it were for burps, but if that were the case I don't think he would be tuning his box in the 30s.

it will do fine we did a install a while back ran an aq2200 to 2 1508s and it took it like a champ but im sure the box was a huge part of it.
The box does say alot in the power handling of a sub. I'm not saying that your setup didn't take it, I'm just saying I think its a bit extreme in the case of a single 8" sub for a daily driver in a little truck.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll keep in mind that I could use a little more port area if (when) I decide to make a new box. When I have the time I plan on building a fancy box and making everything look good. Right now I have a sealed dual 8 box converted into a ported 8 box with a piece of pvc hanging out of it. Wires running through the port also. It's not pretty but it's loud. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I expect to run a little more power to it after break in too. Still seems like it should be broke in by now, but still a lot of noise from the suspension. and I dont think it could be bottoming out as I'm not running over RMS to it.

box is too big and port is too small. The best I have found is between .75-.9 and use a 20sq ratio per cu vs the standard 16sq. I personal found .85cu to work best. tuned @ 40 is fine it will still play in the mid 30's. Also these subs will take 1k daily. I was powering my 4 with 4k for a few months and they worked great and were loud until i sold the subs. Look out I just bought 4 more for a 6th order.
